Have any of you read this book or the other 2? I'm just getting into it and between the book and SCM, I can't get anything completed anymore! The writing style is so easy to read and I'm just tearing through it. Anyone else?

I've never heard of it.. who's it by?
Lynette
05-30-2008, 08:24 PM
Stephenie Meyer. You are reading through it so easily because it was written for teenagers ;) It is a big thing with Salina and her friends and either the movie or the next book in the series is coming out this summer.

:biglaugh
I'm all about love stories and am a bummed there isn't more detail.... ;) Nora Roberts is one of my fave authors. :lol And speaking of Nora--the 2nd book in her new trilogy is out and I got that too.
I've seen the trailers too and the movie looks awesome!
Lynette
05-30-2008, 09:16 PM
I think that is why there is a lack of "detail" because minors are reading them :D The same author just put another book but I can't remember if it is a singleton or the beginning of a new series? If I ask Salina she would be out of control with gidiness that I am bringing it up and talk my ear off for hours about how Edward is hot :shake
Theresa
05-30-2008, 09:23 PM
ha! i heard that the new book is really graphic--gotta look into that one--and it's causing a major uproar. maybe she should write an r-rated version. :lol i think she's mormon too and maybe that's causing the controversey
from what i saw about the movie edward does not look like i pictured him. i thought they would get someone cuter, but he'll do. :lol
Lynette
05-30-2008, 09:26 PM
from what i saw about the movie edward does not look like i pictured him. i thought they would get someone cuter, but he'll do. :lol
O.M.G. if I have to hear that controversy again between Salina and her friends I will open a vein myself! :lol When they say Edward is hot, they are most definitely referring to the book, not the movie ;)

so i should stop going on and on??? i feel like a darn teenager myself. one of my good friends got me hooked and we gab and gab. i feel like how i did when 90210 was on and my nkotb phase!
Lynette
05-30-2008, 09:31 PM
LOL! Salina has been trying to get me to read the books for months and I just couldn't find the time so if I even hint that another mom is reading it and likes it she will be all over me again to read it :D
Theresa
05-30-2008, 09:38 PM
they are really good! :bag you could always start and not tell her. then one night just start a converstion. the first one was hard for me to get into, but now the pages just fly by. i saw all 3 books together and thought--no way! but i'm so damn into it--in fact i'm leaving here to go read! :) now roy's says, "first you're on the computer, now you're in the bed reading. clean the kitchen woman!" then i give him the angry eyes. :lol the kitchen can wait!

Nora Roberts & Stephanie Myer. Do both authors have trilogies? Where would I start?
Anyone read books by Beverly Lewis about Amish families. Love them!
Theresa
05-30-2008, 09:50 PM
I haven't read Beverly Lewis--but I'll check her out. :)
Nora Roberts writes a lot of romance--she's written like 50+ books or so. She does a lot of trilogies too. Her books are fun to read, like beach books. I've read them all and just love her.
Stephanie Myer is the one who has written the Twilight series. It's a youth love story about a small town and vampires. :)

If you like Nora Roberts, try JD Robb - is one of her pen names. Its a crime drama/romance series. Warning: very graphic!
I love Beverly Lewis and Jodi Picoult.

Alright, alright Theresa, you talked me into it! I'll read them when she is not around because the look on her face when I just start talking about it would be priceless :lol
Its funny but when she started reading them she was all into vampires so I suggested she read the vampire series of OUR generation by Anne Rice and we watched some vampire movies too like Lost Boys and The Vampire Lestat and I think she was put off by the fact that there was no romance :lol "Well MY vampires don't kill people for food!"

So, in the last two days I've read Twilight and almost all of New Moon. As I said earlier, I've read so many book reports on Twilight that I was avoiding the book. BUT after reading how much you ladies liked them I figured I should give them a shot.
THEY ARE AWESOME! Thank you so much for the recommendation.:clap
Okay, I'm off to read now.

Theresa

Yay! I'm so glad you ladies liked them. The new book is Breaking Dawn.
How is it possible that a series can be sooo addicting?
AND
Should we do a MNO to go see the movie on 12/12???? :lol I'm so there!

Breaking Dawn is coming out on 8/2 and there is talk of her writing Twilight from Edward's perspective and that is supposed to be called Midnight Sun. She is in negotiations with the publisher but I am not sure if she has written it already or not?

I read all three books while I was prego. They were so good that it took about two days to get through each one. Now I am on "The Host"" but I am not really digging it yet.
I pre-ordered the next one so hopefully that will be better since it is part of the Eclipse series.
I would love a MNO to see the movie, but I am not sure about vamping it up, maybe some gothic eye make-up or something, but no black capes or red boots for me.
BTW, I am on team Edward, Jacob is a furry little boy trapped in a man-beast body.

I checked out the movie web sites, I agree, Edward is not what my dirty mind pictured. I envisioned a younger Johnny Depp, Leonardo Decaprio or Ethan Hawke, this may ruin the movie for me.
BTW, Edward may be cold, but Jacob is inexperienced, he would probably just drool all over you....

Yea! I am so happy to find others into this series....so addicting! The movie Edward does not do the book justice and I don't know if I like Bella either.
Has anyone gone to Stephanie's website? You can read some of what was deleted there.
You can buy shirts with team Edward or team Jacob or runs with wolves. I thought about getting on but decided I would look like a mom trying to hard to be cool and young:blush

06-04-2009, 11:15 AM
no, she said that their story is over, but she will hopefully continue to do the rest of the books from Edwards POV, and I'd also really like to read New Moon from Jacobs POV, too
Theresa
06-04-2009, 01:27 PM
i think she will so totally continue the story. i'd honestly rather read more that just more of the same from different pov's. maybe i feel that way because i haven't read the midnight one? doesn't really peak my interest though--and i don't like reading on the computer.
