Do you plan a vacation for you and your family? What places do you go?

We tend to go on a lot of little vacations (camping, bakersfield to visit family, stuff like that) and usually find a way to hit up Disneyland once a year ;) I LOVE road trips, so even a weekend drive out of town is nice

We don't usually go on vacation unless some of our extended family is going. We are going to Oregon for a family reunion next week with dh family and then to Yosemite in July with mine. Now that my husband got a promotion to foreman (he's in electrician in sf) we might have to plan more trips because we can now afford to.

We go to Oregon once or twice a year. Tim's mom lives in Bandon which is a really cute town on the Southern Oregon coast line so that is always a fun drive.
We took the kids to Disneyland in February although that certainly isn't my idea of a vacation.
It's been way too long since we have travelled out of the country. I'd LOVE to spend a couple weeks in Scotland and England and a couple weeks in Italy.

We haven't been on a real vacation since August 2006. But we are planning a trip to Disneyland this December. We tend to do more day trips, just because neither Caden or I are very good over night travelers ;)

The kids and I are headed to Spokane for June 18-23. Stay part of the time with my mom and part of the time with my sister and her family. Hope it goes well. Kids are excited to see their cousins and go to a indoor waterpark

We try to get away for a couple days at least once a year. This July we are headed to Vegas without Jess for my girlfriends wedding. I am the maid of honor so i don't know how much of a vacation it will be, but it will be nice to spend some adult alone time without Jess. Who knows maybe we will hit the JACKPOT:biglaugh :biglaugh

I like to go up to Oregon to visit my parents when we can - which is only *maybe* a couple times a year for a few days. I have been helping a lot with my niece and nephew so my dad & stepmom are giving us a week of their timeshare. I think we're going to San Diego to take T to Sea World and maybe Lego Land. Not sure how much we'll be able to afford though since we'll have to buy plane tickets.

We're going to Disneyland in October and usually make a few trips up to Tahoe in the winter. We would do more but I'm afraid to fly.

We use to go visit family each Christmas. We would stay a week wtih them. But that didn't *feel* like a vacation at all.

Other than that we hadn't done a *real* vacation since our 1st anniversary when we drive up the coast and stopped at all the breweries. And then of course we went on our Cruise this last December. That was AWESOME!

We probably won't be going on a vacation for a few years! Last Christmas was the last one we will spend with our families in SoCal. This year I'll be about to pop, and then after that it will just be better for the kids to be here for christmas anyway.

Hopefully :fingerscrossed sometime in 2010 my family will plan a big family vacation! Cause if they do and we only have to pay a small part of it, then we would be able to go.

My mom is DEATHLY afraid of flying! all growing up we did trips where we drove insane miles and even days. Sometimes we took the train. If you aren't opposed to boats and trains and driving, there are all sorts of different kinds of vacations you could go on! We even drive to Yellowstone for one of our family vacations when i was about 10. I have some of the best memories doing the road trip vacations.

If you ever want some slightly different ideas for non flying vacations let me know! I have a lot of fond memories doing a lot of different things! :)

This doesn't count as "vacation" to me but I am planning on going back to Minnesota to visit my friend, she is expecting her first child and is due in January:)
DH wants to go to France for his 40th birthday this year.....BUT with price tickets going up, I don't think we will get that far:lol

I like to take vacations, but with me just starting to work this year--I think we will be staying close to home. My kids are begging for Disneyland, but it's not in the cards for the summer. August would be a maybe, but I swore I would NEVER go again in August.

We are planning on going to Roatan for xmas though.

We do a lot of trips to see family, Central Valley (mine) So Cal (dh's) and I've been to see my sister in Wyoming a handful of times. We've been to hawaii a few times - totally want to go back! Now with money and jobs and baby, not gonna be any time soon. We'll probably just stick to visiting family. Camping sounds interesting.

We love to travel and go on vacation a couple times a year. Jacob has been to Arizona, Washington DC and Maui. This summer we're not taking a trip, but will spend a weekend in San Francisco so that should be fun.

Most of our vacations are to visit Mike's family & friends. This month we've gone camping at Pismo and we rented a house for a week in Big Bear. Mike promised me a real vacation after we find a house because our entire week in Big Bear was spent with his friends/family. I'm thinking about a cruise.

We go camping at Yosemite almost every year. We are going in August, it will be i think the 9th time for me.

we go to Michigan to see my family regularly. we are going in December this year if I can get tickets for under $300/pp.

we've gone to Disneyland 3 of the past 6 years. it was supposed to be an every-other year trip, but we don't have plans to go again any time soon.

oh, past vacations, we lived in Germany for 3 years, so we got to see a lot of Europe, but that was, like, a lifetime ago. We went to Maui in 2006, by far THE best vacation ever. We went to Tahoe twice last winter but only a one-nighter each time to take the kids for ski lessons since Ethan was too young to put in the resort daycare.

We've also taken short camping trips to Lake Sonoma, Clearlake, Lake Medocino, Berryessa, Pillsbury and Burney Falls.

I am taking my kids to Legoland and the American Girl store this summer. Has anyone been to either of those places? Can you make any recommendations? Budget is tight!

I already have 1/2 off tickets for Legoland. I'm not sure about how long we will need for the American Girl store, but I know the show they used to have there is now closed. Does anyone know where I can discount packages for this store (maybe for the meal there)? I've already checked AFT.

Thanks for any info or suggestions,
Kerry

I love Big Bear! I went all the time growing up. My grandparents lived at the base of the mountain! :)

I think anyone from Southern California loves Big Bear. One of my best friends lives there but I haven't been to visit for years. Is there anyway to get there without going through LA/Ontario/San Bernadino?

Oh I forgot it's all flat and ugly no matter which way you get to the bottom of the mountain. My dh hates Southern California with a passion which becomes a problem when we travel. You should have heard him bitching from the Valencia to Disneyland. Next time I'm either going to duct tape his mouth or drug him.:nut
