I couldn't even imagine what it's like to go through that Lorah 06-15-2008, 05:15 PM Wow! I cried too! Couldn't help it! Amazing! My sister Faith (ya there is a reason for the name) was born 13 weeks early. It is really hard to have a baby born that early! khanson 06-15-2008, 05:45 PM That's really hard to read. My nephew was born at 26 weeks and I was about 12 weeks or so w/ T at the time so I completely freaked out when I found out. Luckily he didn't need any surgeries, but he was in the NICU for 3 months. They didn't let him go home until his due date, and even at that he got sick and was put back into the hospital for another week. It was so hard :( Kellie_MO5 06-15-2008, 05:56 PM Yeah, there are a couple girls on a birth board I read who had theirs at 24 and 25 weeks... they're holding on and doing good so far, but SO tiny! It was so hard :( MY sister stayed in the NICU for 3 months...until her due date too. She came home in March, but was born the 27th of December. She was only 4 pounds when she came home!!!! Sooo tiny! I was 4 when she was came home. Crazy, only 9 months after she came home our brother was born. CRAZY! becky 06-15-2008, 07:40 PM wow that is an amazing story. these kinds of things always tug on my heart strings because kayla was as CHLA for 3 weeks and we saw so many tiny babies. my moms friend had a grand daughter born really early. She was not expected to make it because she was so tiny but she pulled through fine and the only complication she had was she is blind. Colleen&Kail 06-15-2008, 11:19 PM so sad! KaisaG 06-16-2008, 10:29 PM I cannot imagine... hlebakos 06-16-2008, 11:09 PM Being the mother of twins, I of course have tears in my eyes. We are grateful that B&B were only 2 1/2 weeks early. Brianna was in the NICU for 8 days because she had some breathing issues. Billy is so much bigger than her but he is the boy and I guess it will always be like that. Brianna is a bit more high maintenance than Billy, but maybe that is because she is a girl. Brianna developed a hemangioma (vascular birthmark-blood vessel- benign tumor-strawberry) under her left eyelid, which is a major issue but we are dealing with it. I can't imagine what parents go through when they have preemies. There is so much to worry about. I searched UTUBE and found some graphic videos of preemies. Some survived, others did not. I cried and cried, but it made me extremely thankful for my babies. Who knew being a parent would be so hard? Lorah 06-17-2008, 09:08 AM Brianna developed a hemangioma (vascular birthmark-blood vessel- benign tumor-strawberry) under her left eyelid, which is a major issue but we are dealing with it. I can't imagine what parents go through when they have preemies. There is so much to worry about. Ya know, I was born early....6 weeks (so not too bad). And I had over 50 capillary hemangiomas! They are VERY common! And they are NOT bad at all! They just look funny! Like bright red Strawberry raised birthmarks. If it is keeping her from seeing, then that would be an issue, but otherwise they can keep growing until about age 2 and then will start to go away on their own. So if it isn't causing any vision problems (it sounds like it might be though) then you really shouldn't worry about it. I still have about 8 of the more than 50 I started out with. (they stopped counting at 50 is what I was told). One of my sisters had one under her eyelid as well. Hers went away befoe she was 3. And it was HUGE! But she has no lasting effects of it. If you can let it go away on its own, it is better in the long run....or so all the many many many specialists have told me over the last 29.5 years ;) fwiw If you have any questions about them and how they develop, grow, fade, etc. I'd be HAPPY to tell you ALL about them! |
