Not nursing Alaina last night was hard, she woke up around 5:30am and had a hard time getting back to sleep but we had to get up at 6:15 anyways so no big deal. She got ready just fine, car ride was fine, but at the office as soon as the anesthesiologist started crowding her to give her the shot in the arm she started yelling. Then she got the shot and REALLY started yelling but the creepy part was that when the drugs kicked in she stopped abruptly, got glassy eyed and made gurgling noises and the tears still streaming down her face :( That was a little scary. Otherwise the procedure went fine, they gave her to me while she was still sleeping but she was so comfy with me that she was snoring so I had to pass her to Brian so she could wake up.
She didn't sign that she wanted to nurse until right before they said she could go but was still sleepy in the car on the way home. She nursed for about a half an hour when we got home and even though the doctor said she would be out of it and throw up if she ate before this evening, she said she was hungry and ate a normal sized lunch in her high chair. I nursed her to sleep for her nap and she has been sleeping an hour already so I think she is shaking off the drugs pretty quickly. She kept poking her teeth but didn't say they hurt, only the tape were the IV was and her smile looks great now as an added bonus :) I will have to take a pic when she is 100%.
