View Full Version : Police sting to catch online predators to be shown on dateline JeriAnne 08-31-2006, 09:23 AM My MIL works for the city of Petaluma and she told me that the Petaluma police did a sting operation to catch online predators. She said that it will be airing on dateline the end of Sept. and early october. I guess they caught 30 guys. becky 08-31-2006, 09:25 AM wow that is alot. If you find out when it is airing for sure please let us know. I would love to watch it. I never know when Dateline is one so its a hit and miss if i ever catch anything good. They said the sting was conducted in the Kings Mill subdivision on the eastside of town. But they didn't say when the program would air. When James got the new TV we upgraded to a DVR. I've watched past ones they've done and it's freakin' unbelieveable to see them show up and then try to "talk" themselves out of the situation like they are the ones who are being unfairly treated! It is pretty creepy. These guys are crazy. I love the ones who come in and say I thought it was my duty to come over here and warn this young girl or boy that it is not safe to meet people online and invite them to your house, especially when your parents aren't home. Alaina woke up about 15 into it and Salina was watching it with me but I had to go put Alaina back to sleep and fell asleep myself. But I made the same comment to James before it started "hope we don't see anyone we know" b/c we were both born and reaised here in SR. They have a picture, their email info, IM info, phone numbers, etc. They also post the whole transpript of peoples conversations. Its disgusting. I actually signed up to help at one point, but, there is just no way I could allow someone to talk to me that way and not blow up(knowing that im suppose to be a CHILD). I would LOVE to help catch people doing this, but, I just dont have the right personality for it, as much as I wish I could. It takes a special person to go under cover. Some(most) of the stuff that is said makes me blush and im by no means a sheltered person. |
