Modern Moms

Have you guys heard about this group--Modern Moms? It might be more doable for the moms in southern Sonoma county like me. It's a new group that will have playdates and mom activities and seminars. It is in most major cities over the country and they will have a San Francisco group. I signed up out of curiousity. They are offering a $5 discount with this code: MM05

I figured it might be fun but it's new so we will see.

ooh, don't do it! Do a search and check the BBB first! I ws going to do it last time they did something like that, but glad I didn't, they TOTALLY screwed a bunch of people over with their 'bags' and I have heard NOTHING but awful stuff about them... Hopefully you'll have a different experience, but I personally would stay far, FAR away from Modern Moms

You know, I had some trouble the first time I tried signing up with them and contacted BBB. They told me they were having problems getting off the ground and they refunded my money. Evidently, they are starting over. I just got an e-mail saying they are sending out the bags in the next two weeks. We'll see what happens. Right now, it is a San Francisco chapter but I figure there will be some North Bay people. I occasionally get down that way anyway. Figured it might be interesting. I'll let you know what happens.

I'm not looking for another group because this one (SCM) provides so much! I have online support, Amins. who are local and *real* people we see at playdates and can contact with questions, TONS of playdates each week including weekends, we celebrate birthday both online and in person, same with pregnancy, and new babies! We support our new mommies with meals, and help each other out when something happens! We have the resources to be social, and keep to ourselves if needed/wanted, and to develop some great offline relationships!

Personally, I'm finding what I want/need here. Although other groups may have a monetary perk to them, nothing has been as true, helpful, encouraging, and consistent as SCM.

Just my honest opinion though.

I found the board I had been reading abuot everyone having really bad issues with them.. it's on YDF.com (I *think* that's the name of it) and you can do a search in the dead deals forum and there will be a few threads about the Modern Moms site

Oh! I don't want you to ever think it would take the place of SCM for me!!! I love SCM!! Plus, SCM is local which is great! I just thought it would be fun to connect with moms a little further south.

FYI___I just got a free product to test from them so evidently things must be getting better. We'll see....
