I wanted to be green so instead of buying a new stroller I used an old McClaren (I don't even know what model it is) that a friend passed along to me. It isn't very luxe or tricked out but I didn't really care much--the brakes don't work (not a problem if you live where there is no hills), it's a little faded and dirty and the wheels squeak if I don't lube them often. I've used it from the time J was 7 months for about a year now. Now the shade hood broke which pushes it into the condition of pretty sad shape. I didn't really want to get another stroller but it's looking like time to replace it. Question is: what to get now that J is a toddler? To what age do kids use strollers? I was thinking of a 3 wheeled maybe rugged one but those mtn buggy brand are mucho dinero, hello, I could get a used car for that much lol! Any suggestions?

we spent bukoo on our stroller....we have a bugaboo....for the most part it lives in my car. We rarely use it these days since she prefers to walk....she is 21 months. It's in the house at the moment because I did take her on a walk that was too far for her little legs to walk the 'whole' way...so when she was tired she hopped in the stroller...but in all honestly we don't use the stroller very much.

I'm a Bob Revolution die-hard myself....they go up to 70 lbs. They are $$ but super-durable.

I actually didn't get our MacClaren until Alaina was nearly 3yo and she uses it all the time still. She doesn't like to walk long distances she says it hurts her legs so I think it depends on the kid.

Stroller use totally depends on the kid. Jessica used one till she was 5 at least. Jules we haven't really used it much for the past year or so except for the all day outings at the fair or Six Flags. I do have a 3 wheel jogger with non swivel front wheel up for sale. I believe its still in the for sale folder here at SCM.

myah is 4 and she can't walk a ton since she gets tired still. i have a tendency to still need a stroller from time to time until my kids are about 4 or 5

I love our basic McClaren ($120?) because it folds so well. I have a friend who is looking to sell a BOB non-swivel for $100 but I think it might be a double one.... let me know if you are interested.

For stroller brands and all that, I have no idea... But we still use one for Kaylyn and she'll be 2 in December. I like being able to keep her contained, because she'll actually stay strapped in, unlike when holding my hand when she can dart away quickly. She's still not super keen on her backpack harness, either. I also like the option of putting her in there when she gets tired from walking (when I let her lol), plus it's covered and reclines a lot in case she wants to nap in it. We just use the one from our Graco travel system. I think strollers are worth it though, even for toddlers.

I'm no help here :( I went all the way $$$$$$ with the double stroller we bought.. I hope it lasts forever so we can pass it to our grandchildren LOL .

My 3yo still uses the stroller most of the time. We have a Combi Twin Sport, but they make a single that's pretty much the same thing for $50-100 depending on how many features you want (tray, cupholder, etc. I like it because it's really lightweight and folds up small. Not sure about the weight limit though. You could probably find an ok jogger on craigslist for cheap. Good luck!

I am a big stroller user...I had a few different styles for Taiven including one that was a backpack/stroller that went to 70 pounds. I loved it for the zoo or things that he wanted to walk at but when tired I could plop him in, while he was walking I wore it...he went in the stroller until he was 6 for reallllly long walks, but I loved this little shaded umbrella stroller till he was 4 for the malla nd marathon shopping...honestly I don't know what I would do without my stroller now having two babies...

Also I have 2 snap n goes, I not only use them to get the babies to and from the car from or to the house, I also use them to take groceries in, to haul laundry to the laundry room at our complex...they come in super handy!!

This (http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_024W698117110001P) is what we have for Brianna. She wants to walk 90% of the time so this just stays in my trunk for the most part. It's smaller than our original Graco but a tad bigger than an umbrella. And it's pretty cheap. :thumb

Vanessa, I have a three-wheeled jogger on which the canvas is a little "weathered" but everything is in good condition and works properly (including the hand brake). It was given to me and we just don't have room for it. I would be more than happy to pass it on to you and let you try it. If you don't like it, pass it on again. Give me a while and I can get some pictures for you if you would like.
(ugh, I have THREE "specialized function" strollers I need to pass on and get ONE multi-purpose one.)

Hey that would be great. I would love to check it out.

I tried and boy they go fast! And the ones that don't the people are asking too much. I mean I figure a 2 year old stroller depreciates a third the value and a 4 to 5 year old stroller should be less than half full new price...

I got one of these run away kiddos too. I am considering a harness thing but I haven't been able to locate one of those backpack concealed harnesses.

If it were me I would get a Wrangler umbrella stroller for around $30. I love mine better than all the other ones I had. The umbrella it had was better too! It is perfect for a toddler because if you end up pushing it without the kid in it (haha), it's no biggie.

I am starting to consider this. The only thing I have seen people complain about is that the seat seems lacking in good construction and comfort compared to how well the frame and wheels are done, like it was an afterthought. Another comment I have seen is that if your kid slouches, it doesn't appear all that comfy for him. And is the canopy fully adjustable??? Any feedback on this?

The seat can recline and the canopy has one of the largest shade range (and is collapseable) IMO...have you seen their website?

http://www.bobgear.com/

If your not into running, they have the revolution with 12" tires in the back. They also sell a warm fuzzy insert that offers more support and cushion.

Good luck! they have them at REI is you ever want to get them a whirl, but as for buting them, you can find them cheaper on-line.:)

Erin, do you have the cup holder thing and is it worth it????

erin anne
09-07-2008, 08:48 PM
YES, it is totally worth it! the pouch in the middle holdd my phone and I usually plop my keys into one of the cup slots....it's a necessity really.

My only wish is that it was already included with the stroller since it costs bank and all.
