KaisaG 09-27-2006, 07:41 AM I feel like I am flopping around uncontrolably if I don't have it on when I :drive LMS 09-27-2006, 11:03 AM Glad to see we have so many safe mamas ;) Marisa 09-27-2006, 11:17 AM I'll admit, I'm soooo bad at remembering. The mommy comes out when Brianna's in the car so somehow I put it on when I'm with her and when I'm not... I just forget! LOL! :duh LMS 09-27-2006, 11:50 AM JR hardly ever wears his. I've made a new rule that the car doesn't leave the garage without seatbelts on. He's slowly learning Maggies Mama 09-27-2006, 12:00 PM Always. Chris used to be bad about it too. Must be a "man-thing". He has gotten better and does it now without me reminding him. They are "trainable"....it just takes time.;) becky 09-27-2006, 12:24 PM Myah is very good at telling her daddy "buckle up daddy, buckle up" she will say this over and over until he buckles up. saves me the trouble of asking him to do it. LMS 09-27-2006, 02:35 PM Jr gets so mad b/c I'm constantly chirping "click it or ticket!" lol Sara 09-27-2006, 03:15 PM Here is my story (not that anyone asked lol). I always wore my seatbelt. Then one summer I worked as a pizza delivery girl and was always in and out of the car, so I would wear it 75% of the time. Wouldn't you know, during that 25% I got into a major car accident. The strange thing is that it is a miracle that I survived, let alone walked away without a scratch. I mean, I t-boned a car while I was going 40-mph and had about 2 seconds to break, no seatbelt. I ended up crunching down under the steering wheel, breaking the wheel back with my chin and contorting myself in the bottom of the drivers side. I remember popping back up and thinking, uh, oh, I am going to be in trouble for not wearing my seatbelt. When the paramedics arrived they looked at me, then at the car and said, no, you weren't in that car?!? They checked me 3 times and wanted to take me to the hospital, but I refused. The only thing I got was a permanent back injury and now some slipped discs (not that that isn't a bad injury, I just mean I didn't break anything at the time and had literally no scratches on me). The funny thing is, if I were wearing my seatbelt, I would have probably been worse off. I would have chocked myself or broken some ribs/collar bone. I guess that is the one in a million situations where not wearing a seatbelt was probably better. I always wear it now and have everyday since the accident. I just feel more safe. Lynette 09-27-2006, 05:24 PM When Salina was little I used to tell her the car just couldn't function unless everyone had their seatbelt on and she believed me because I would watch her in the rear view mirror. When she put it on I would rev the engine :D LMS 09-27-2006, 06:26 PM When Salina was little I used to tell her the car just couldn't function unless everyone had their seatbelt on and she believed me because I would watch her in the rear view mirror. When she put it on I would rev the engine :D That is EXACTLY what i was raised believing! So we're going to use that with Brendan too, I think! Sara: I know 2 people who were in those "one in a million" type accidents where the seatbelt could have done more harm. It's so scary and one of those people doesn't wear seatbelts anymore b/c she swears they kill more people than they save :duh justamom 10-02-2006, 02:59 PM I always wear a seatbelt. In fact if I start the ignition without my seatbelt on it constantly beeps at me. My Mom does not wear one. Her older brother died in a VW bug when she was 19, because he could not get the seatbelt off. My hubby did not used to wear one. When I was pregnant with my oldest I would make him put his on when I was with him. Then one day he got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt, he never forgot again. Kellie_MO5 03-05-2007, 11:35 PM I have always worn my seatbelt.. I really cannot remember ever NOT wearing it, except in the back of a pickup out camping driving to the corner store... but there were like, 15 of us back there, and it was about 8 years ago Lorah 03-06-2007, 03:46 PM I always wear one. I put it on before even turning the car on. I hope Maverick will learn this by example too. |
