If you're not a sports fan, you probably aren't aware... so here's a rundown:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-titans-haynesworthsuspended&prov=ap&type=lgns

Tennessee Titans (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/ten/) defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5901/) was given a five-game suspension -- the longest for on-field behavior in NFL history -- for stomping on Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/dal/) center Andre Gurode (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5923/)'s head and kicking him in the face Sunday.

He had on metal spikes, and stomped on Andre Gurodes face (after his helmet fell off) causing him to need 30 stitches.

What do you think?

I figured JR would be livid b/c he's a cowboys fan... but he was actually more upset at the thought that kids were watching and would think that kind of unsportsman like conduct was okay...

personally think he should have been arrested, hand cuffed and walked off the field! It was so completely unnecessary! And like JR said... what about the kids that are watching that thinking it's okay to do b/c some pro-player did it? The guy is nuts!

I was reading an article today saying the guy who did it was disgusted with himself which I thought was pretty big of him to say rather than the canned "I'm sorry!" through a spokesperson. I dunno, they hire these big guys with all this testosterone and they are running around like animals with the adrenilin pumping and this is the kind of thing that happens. Obviously it is wrong, I guess I can just see how he got carried away.

I saw his appology on TV and from the look in his eyes I say it was 110% scripted. He got suspended for 5 games... that's the most in NFL history... they were threatening him with a 1 YEAR suspension (not 1 season, one year, up to the 4th game of next season) and i think that's why he appologized, personally.

I'm with you Jackie! These guys always have their "speeches" written for them and are told what to say to save face. The only reason he apologized is b/c he knew he was in trouble and was trying to avoid the consequences of his actions... not b/c he was sorry stomping on a guys with metal cleats causing him to need 30 stitches!!

Ah! Good point, sincerity is impossible to gauge in an article....

I think it was phoney baloney too. It's kinda like the evil murderers in prison that find God while they are on death row; or while they serve their million consecutive life sentences. People are always SO remorseful when they know they f***ed up and they are busted.
