Anyone have any insight as to why 18mo clothes are so much smaller than 2T?? Alaina has some 18mo pants that don't pull up high enough and look like floods but then I put on some 2Ts and they are falling off and like 3 inches of cuff are dragging along on the floor! Ugh!

I know she is fairly thin but I think she is on the taller side for her age so I dunno what the deal is. Any ideas? I hate to sew, but if I did, how would I go about taking something in at the waist so it is strong enough to hold up but I can let it out later? What about the cuff, hem it up or under?

This is why I buy clothes in the first place, so I don't have to sew them!!!

i have to take in ALL of brendan's pants at the waist. When they fit the length, the tummy is WAAAY too baggy. I just flip them inside out and stitch them in on an angle.. I cant explain so i just made a little image to show you. that way i can take one side out at a time (I only take in about 1 inch on each side) and they wash up really well.

there is also a slight difference between buying 24 months and 2T. I dont understand the logic yet but i used to look for only 24 months because they were slightly smaller.

Do you hand stitch them? What a cool image, I am very visual :D Thanks!

Hmmm...something to do while I watch TV tonight. I have all this cute stuff and she can't wear it. I think her issue is that she is long in the torso or something...

I thought that was why somethings said 24mo and some said 2T but I was looking at the weights and heights breakdowns on the tags and they said they were the same? But then why not call them the same??

i really dont know but its weird. I had gone to target once looking for stuff for myah and there really was a difference. Not much but it was enough for me to buy the 24 mo instead of the 2T

lynette: No, I do it on my sewing machine. I hate hand stitching.

Lynette: the main difference between 2T and 24 months is the lenth. 2T is typically longer/taller than a 24 months. We had the same problem with Sevannah... and still do everytime she outgrows her clothes. Like now... most of her 3T stuff is too short but I have to constantly pull her pants up all day if it's a 4T.

I use to just have her wear a belt on the stuff that was too baggy and rolled the pants up b/c you never know when their gonna have their next big growth spurt... kwim?

Totally and Alaina has been a chow hound lately so either she is preparing for winter or she is going to grow soon :)

Of course I already ripped off all the tags and washed them to get the new clothes stink of them so it looks like a needle and thread are in my future...

as far as I know the diff between 2t and 24 mo is one has more room in the diaper area. One is for still diapered butts another for potty trained kids. I think T denotes still diapered though it could be the otherway around. There are 3 3t and 4 4t...

I have the complete opposite problem with Caden... he is such a little chub that by the time pants fit him lenghtwise, they are way to tight to button up. Plus he is bigger on top than he is on the bottom; I always have to buy his shirts a size larger than his bottoms. I tried to buy some pants for him yesterday and the 5 regular are way too tight but the right length. Sigh. I think I might be buying him some 7's and hemming. Maybe I can talk my mom into doing the alteration. LOL
