View Full Version : How much $$ was your wedding? LMS 10-12-2006, 01:00 PM colleens post about the wedding got me thinking how much did you spend on your wedding? Or do you PLAN on spending on your wedding :) My3sonsplus1 10-12-2006, 01:22 PM I think we spent about $2k which included all stationary, dress, tux rentals, church, reception, and honeymoon suite 2 days plus airefare and a week at disneyworld and universal studios florida daisydoc 10-12-2006, 02:16 PM We had a medium sized wedding in Aug in Napa County. I did a lot of stuff myself (flowers, invites, center pieces, etc). The bulk of the $$ went to the caterer and the site. Mom of 2 10-12-2006, 02:30 PM Most of the money for our wedding went to the catering. We kept the centerpieces and flowers and invites simple, but looking very nice and the colors were great. Kate Mom to Patty and Tyler alowe 10-12-2006, 02:37 PM We were fortunate because we had three contributors. My parents, Chad's and us. We split it three ways. meeg124 10-12-2006, 02:40 PM We were pretty low key because I'm not a big wedding person and this was a second marriage for both of us. I really wanted to get married at the coast but that didn't work out, so we decided to get married in Reno. For some crazy reason, I was set on getting married as close to our year anniversary as possible, so it was winter and there was blizzard while everyone was trying to get to Reno for our wedding! Megan Sara 10-12-2006, 02:51 PM Luckily 'we' didn't pay for the wedding, my parents did. We got married at Paradise Ridge winery up in fountaingrove. I actually worked there in high school and always thought it would be a beautiful place to be married at. It wasn't lavish, but the site & food & drinks got it to be pretty pricey. daisydoc 10-12-2006, 02:58 PM ya I guess I should add that in... my parents paid for our wedding! :) KaisaG 10-12-2006, 03:03 PM We were pretty low key because I'm not a big wedding person and this was a second marriage for both of us. Megan Megan- WOW! We're both Swedish and we both got married in Reno (okay mine is really South Lake) in the middle of a snow storm for our year anniversary. It took us 11 hours to get there and 10.5 to get back! LMS 10-12-2006, 03:20 PM Luckily 'we' didn't pay for the wedding, my parents did. And being the stupid 19 year old I was, I went very lavish on everything... now i wish i had just asked them for a check :lol Sara 10-12-2006, 03:46 PM And being the stupid 19 year old I was, I went very lavish on everything... now i wish i had just asked them for a check :lol I know-that wasn't an option with me. My mom did the reno thing when they got married and I was going to have a real wedding no matter what. Not that I am complaining! It was beautiful and perfect and I wouldn't change anything from that day. :love:throblove:partners LMS 10-12-2006, 03:52 PM me either. I actually JUST uploaded all my wedding pics to flickr yesterday and got to kind of relive it :) JeriAnne 10-12-2006, 03:56 PM I probably paid the least out of anyone here. I think ours was under $150....Just a the gas to the courthouse and the $$$ for the marriage cert....lol. becky 10-12-2006, 04:00 PM I probably paid the least out of anyone here. I think ours was under $150....Just a the gas to the courthouse and the $$$ for the marriage cert....lol. ours was under a hundred bucks, $65 for the cert. and $22 for the judge to marry us. that's it :) Lynette 10-12-2006, 06:02 PM Ours was between $1k and $2k, I didn't want anything big, I didn't want anyone else to pay for it, I just wanted the marriage so the wedding wasn't as important at that point I guess. barb 10-14-2006, 08:58 PM Ours was under $100.00 for my dress ($25.00 at Marshalls) and the wedding certificate. :) I didn't have to pay for the County Official to marry us. meeg124 10-14-2006, 10:02 PM Megan- WOW! Kaisa - this is too funny! Maybe we're long lost twins, born 10+ years apart lol. We were the only ones that didn't get stuck in the storm. We went up the day before everyone else and then we stayed for a couple of days afterwards. Megan kariclose 10-21-2006, 03:06 PM We went to Reno, and only invited Trustin's grandma, who was 91 at the time! Well, our friends and family got word of it, and we had a surprise 30 people show up! I didn't want to be in front of anyone- too shy- so the ceremony was 5 minutes long. The chapel, only supposed to seat a max of twenty was packed! Turned out to be a blast. Stayed the weekend and partied the whole time! Went home completely hungover. Only regret: Wish we would have followed up with a "proper" reception later. I get jealous when I see all of the wedding gifts my friends have gotten! Only sorta joking!:tongue I'm thinking we will throw a huge party for our 10 year anniv. You're all invited. It's only three years away!:love Funny thing is, I love event planning- Go figure! Kellie_MO5 11-07-2006, 03:39 PM We paid $700 for our wedding (by we, I mean me.. everything in my savings! lol.. a lot for a newly turned 18 year old LOL). My FIL is a pastor, so we didn't have to pay for that, a woman in the church makes cakes for a living, so we only had to pay $50 for an AWESOME cake, my dress was $250+$100 veil... We were married at the LBC (where our church used to be, in the main part with the pretty stained glass.. free) and did our own flowers and everything... Was fun, but wish I had done it a bit bigger now.. but am planning on a huge 10th anniversary party...hehe... (only 4 more years! lo) Luckylove 02-18-2007, 07:30 PM We did the expensive wedding also. We didn't know any better. We were living way below our means and money didn't seem to be an object. We paid for it totally ourselves. *Kelley*mom 02-19-2007, 04:56 PM We were going to elope on valentines day. But we told our moms and they BOTH guilted us. We were going to tahoe, the room was already booked so we still went for a pre-honeymoon. We had a presidential suite at Harveys. Man it was a nice room. We married in march instead. Well, we paid for it all ourselves. My dress was about $500.00 I was preggo so it was hard to find a nice dress for a big ole belly. The pastor was I dont know how much. The cake was under $300.00. The best price we could find and it was oh sooo good. We still use that bakery for ALL of our parties. The place was at a friends in guerneville, he lives in an old hotel so it was plenty big. He ALSO has his own nursery and he and my dad went to S.F. at 4 a.m to buy flowers. He bought TONS about $5,000. worth for well under $1000. That was a gift from him as well. We did all the food ourselves, family and such. It was suppose to be outside but it rained. So it had to be inside literally last minute. In total including the stay in bodega we paid roughly $5,000. We were going to elpo karen-clark 02-19-2007, 06:13 PM Went all out with the 1st wedding - that was a waste of $. So for my 2nd and final marriage I knew better and kept it simple. Got married in Greg's parents' backyard, bought my dress online about $200, had appetizers from Costco, a gorgeous cake (probably the most money spent was on the cake), simple decorations, and invited only 30 people. It was beautiful and intimate and perfect! We went to a Mexican dinner afterwards and had a great time. We did have a bigger reception later but it was a picnic at the beach - again, simple and fun! I'd do everything exactly the same again. It was maybe $3000 max for everything! Lorah 02-22-2007, 05:31 PM We spent 2K on our wedding. That included the dress, the location, the food, the wedding night hotel, etc....this even included the 5 day honeymoon. We didn't have much, but we made it work. I had the best time ever! Thats all that really matters really. justamom 02-23-2007, 05:13 PM My first wedding was around $8000. My dress was $1000, we made our own centerpieces & favors. I also did my own balloon arches. My Mom ended up having to pay for 2 of the 3 bridesmaid dresses, and they were supposed to pay her back and did not. Poor Mom. I had a friend cater it so that saved a ton. She only charged me the cost of the food. For my second wedding my hubby and I went to the courthouse with my son, and it was around $50. Nothing fancy! I had fancy with the first wedding. This was my hubby's first marriage so we plan to have some type of ceremony on one of our Anniversaries. Someday! I will most likely let my hubby pick most of everything as far as colors and things. Not sure what we will spend, depends on when we decide to do it, and where we are in life. |
