anyone know good brands or where to get quality raingear for toddlers?? I don't mean the cutsie decorative stuff but puddle stomp and stay dry stuff. I looked at the REI website and their reviews for the boots are variable: one person says they are durable and the other says that the boots lasted 4 days and I'm like "huh? are we talking about the same product here?" And anyone else notice that the girls' gear is super cute and the boys' stuff is boring! :(

I bought Caden's rainboots from last year from REI... they seemed to hold up fine and they actually had a couple of cute styles for little boys. REI has a great return policy, so I would imagine that if they fell apart after a couple of days, they would take them back.

We've always been able to get good boots at our local nursery. Sometimes the hardware stores carry them too. I'd make a couple phone calls. Maybe Garrets Hardware?

I went to 5 stores yesterday looking for boot for me....and no one seems to have them yet....

I do know that L.L. Bean has Puddle Stompers online ....that's where MIL got Mav's....they were delivered here on Friday. Perfect timing...he has been living in them since they arrived. They seem to work really well! I think they run about $26-$28.

Dh said he saw kids rainboots at Costco yesterday, not sure on the designs or cost though.

We too are on the hunt for rain boots for our little lady...

They are both size 6. One still fits with room even though she is in a size 7 tennies. The other she fits into but her toe is right at the top. I would be willing to give away the smaller one. They are pink with flowers and bees. I got them at Toys R Us last year. Oh and they have Ava's name written on the inside because I bought them for her daycare.

To answer your post, we got Ava these last year http://www.rei.com/product/749400 and they have held up well. My only complaint is that the insole comes out easily when she takes them off. She never wore them everyday but maybe 15 + times.

Mathias have some Clarks and Aigle rainboots. I really love the Aigle because they are very light and natural rubber. Great quality!

OK thanks for the info :) a 6 is too smal for Madelynn she's in a 7.5 :(

We're going to head out in a little while and see if we can find some at one of the places you ladies suggested!

That is some serious raingair. I suppose if you lived where it rained as much as it does in England, the choices for rainy weather wear would be really good!

oooh kathleen size siix would fit skye, her size 5 ladybug boots won't make it through the rain as she is in a 5 now...i think maders wears a 7 but she called first, so if they don't fit her then I want to be next in line :) is it wrong to put a boy in red ladybug boots or should i offer them up when skye outgrows them????

i think you're probably thinking of the kidorable (http://www.kidorable.com/index.php?content=collections&subpage=splashpage) stuff, seasyn. that seems to be the popular brand for that stuff most retailers around here have. super cute but not very durable from what i've heard?? i don't know if anyone has any experience with them, but i just haven't heard raving reviews.

We got some for Taiven's camping trip at walmart they were like 15 bucks, they had kids ones as cheap as 8 and adult ones from 11-22 dollar range...they are really durable too...he is VERY hard in his shoes and these are still brand new looking after many wears :)
(we got them in the windsor location on the back wall of the shoe section, so I am not sure where exactly they are at the RP store, you might have to ask if you can't see em...)

Wow. I feel really outta the loop here. I've never in my life owned a pair of rain boots or a rain jacket. It hadn't even crossed my mind that I should get them for Jackson. 'Course I'm the kind of person who won't open an umbrella unless it's pouring cats and dogs AND I have to be out in it for more than a couple minutes.

When would you use them? I mean, just to put on to walk from the car to the store? Or for walks in the rain (which actually sounds lovely and worth buying them just so I could do!)? Oh, I bet they'd be useful for going to the park AFTER it's been raining and then they don't get wet feet. Sorry to sound like a dumbass on this, it's just new to me :)

For *us* we get this giant sized puddle in front of our house that is really deep....and so I need to have her wear them just to leave the house :lol

as far as an umbrella....the girl got her own umbrella this week....we *must* use it whenever we leave the house :rolleyes (raining or not :giggle)

I got Caty's boots from Target last year. They are blue with red cherries and 7/8. So far she's stuffing her foot in them and not complaining, but she's in a 9. I will measure her foot later. They are still in good condition, but show some wear. She wore them almost everyday last winter. So easy to put on and take off! She just had them on with her pettiskirt earlier today. :lol

Is it because they figure you are going to put like 3 pair of socks on or something? She is still wearing a 3 so chances are if they are running that big then we would need a 2. I would guess that they won't have that.

Last year at Target they had some raingear in the infant sizes but I only bought the 6-12 month and they are too small. Maybe they will carry them again. Baby Reverie only had size 5s.

The salesman said it’s because they can be worn with your shoe inside of them so they are made wider/bigger for the size…..

After he said that I remembered as a kid we always wore our shoes and then the rain boots over them….

They have some rain boots and coats at the new kid's consignment store in Santa Rosa called Eleven 11. I sold Hannah's strawberry rainjacket and adorable rainboots from Whole Foods there.

We went to Stride Rite in the mall on Saturday. Hannah fell in love with the Western Chief pink pony boots. I bought her an adorable pink palamino raincoat at a g-sale this summer and they coordinate well. SR wanted $30 and we put the last size 10 on hold.

I came home and found the same boots on Zappos.com for $30 I had a $20 credit so they were only $10. Then MIL sent Hannah $5 in the mail so I only paid $5! :) :thumb The boots came today and Hannah will try them on after her nap!

Those were actually the first time that she wore those and they are fours. Most of her other shoes are threes but that is also summer time size which means no sock. I need to get her a new pair of robeez but have not taken the time to go to the store. i think you're probably thinking of the kidorable (http://www.kidorable.com/index.php?content=collections&subpage=splashpage) stuff, seasyn. that seems to be the popular brand for that stuff most retailers around here have. super cute but not very durable from what i've heard?? i don't know if anyone has any experience with them, but i just haven't heard raving reviews.

I've have kidorable boots for Alessa the past 3 years and FWIW.. they held up fine.. the antenna's got pulled off the ladybug boots, but the boots themselves lasted well.. but given that kids feet grow so fast.. they didn't have time to fall apart I got mine at the Baby Warehouse in Petaluma.. Also have a kidorable cow printed raincoat

Kellie-Glad the boots fit him. We picked them up at Salvation Army a couple years back for less than $5.

Thats another thing check out thrift stores. I got Jules last pair at Salvation Army. Then her new pair which is pink/purple I got at St Vincents Thrift Store over the summer for less than $2

Target is open 8 am-10 pm except Sundays they close at 9. Not sure when the stay open longer holiday hours start. I believe its the end of Nov
