I just got home from voting (turning in my absentee ballot in person since I never got around to mailing it :bag ). I must say I felt quite patriotic :) Then I headed over to Starbucks for my free coffee :)

Since our alarm clock gets up before the sun we had plenty of time to get ready for the day and then even walk to our polling place as it was opening.

You actually could vote by provisional. That is where you have to fill out a little more info and the judge will okay you but your vote still gets counted.

There was a line even for that.
And besides just dropping it off, you also had to sign something saying you dropped it off.

I went this morning when I dropped my son off at school. So nice to have the polling place in his gym! It wasn't busy though. I was #52. Hopefully everyone in the area will vote!! This is a HUGE election this year! Not just for the president, but the propositions!

But where do I go? I'm a California state resident living in Alaska. I'm not changing my residency.

I just googled provisional ballots and what is says is that you must be
1) a registered voter and
2) cast your ballot in the election district where you reside.

It says that "moving" is one the reasons to be issued a provisional ballot.

However, I found this on a Maryland state website so it might not apply in Alaska . . . can you call your local voting place and check with them?

I'll be going once DH gets home. It's his first time voting ever (SO PROUD :D) so we're going together. I'm used to voting in the early or mid-morning. Hope it's not too crazy later this afternoon. I'm guessing as long as we get down there before the 5pm crowd shows up it will still be quick.

Mav went with us....and always has.... once i was even nursing him when in the "booth" if I can even call it that...

ours are just tall tables with sides so your neighbor can't see in....no curtain, nothing enclosed.

Mav also likes to run around the room where it's held and get stickers and flirt with the workers.

Just got home now! I am so happy to live in the little town of Cotati. Walk in and walk out, no waiting in long lines:) Plus, I had my notes of how I was voting, so just went in, marked based on my list, and left all within 5 minutes:)

It will be interesting to hear if there are any lines when dh does it.
He just called a few minutes to say he was on his way home. So, he should be there about 6:30pm.

We were there about 5. I didn't have to wait but I got the last booth so DH had to wait for a couple minutes.

What I thought was funny was that there were people in the 2 booths next to me when I walked up. I finished, DH filled my spot, and they were STILL there when he finished.... I don't get it.... Do people seriously get to the polls without knowing how they are going to vote? Geeze... they send out all the sample ballots and info packets in plenty of time to do some research!

Ohhh and the people working were soooo tired looking hahahaha my ballots were all organized wrong :shake oh well though.....

We dropped off our absentee ballots. We need to switch back to just going. Phil was in school on Tuesday nights for the last four years, but since he's finally done with his apprenticeship we don't need to do absentee ballots anymore.
