(and this is a public poll, just so ya know) My3sonsplus1 11-04-2008, 08:07 AM I am voting absentee so assuming we get it in I will have rocked the vote/the So. Co. boat :lol. Debbie 11-04-2008, 08:49 AM I sent in my absentee ballot last week! BoooYaaa Adriana 11-04-2008, 08:49 AM I just got home from voting (turning in my absentee ballot in person since I never got around to mailing it :bag ). I must say I felt quite patriotic :) Then I headed over to Starbucks for my free coffee :) Brookepanda 11-04-2008, 08:52 AM I'm turning in my absentee ballot today because I like some of you...never mailed it! :bag Lorah 11-04-2008, 09:20 AM I voted at 7am! So did Travis. Since our alarm clock gets up before the sun we had plenty of time to get ready for the day and then even walk to our polling place as it was opening. :thumb I have my sticker! wyattsmama 11-04-2008, 09:24 AM absentee i really need to change it to going in in person though because it's honestly a lot more work to do it at home then i thought it would be. momtoM&D 11-04-2008, 09:26 AM I'm planning on doing it a little later this morning. I don't vote absentee just because I like the whole process of going and doing it, and I feel a little more secure that my vote didn't somehow get lost in the mail or something. Sara 11-04-2008, 09:49 AM Not yet, I plan to after I get home from picking the kiddos up. I hope the lines aren't too long! barb 11-04-2008, 09:56 AM I'm the lone "no" vote so far. I didn't get my crap together and mail in my voter registration card. colleen&Kail 11-04-2008, 10:31 AM i will later today... Kellie_MO5 11-04-2008, 10:34 AM I'm the lone "no" vote so far. I didn't get my crap together and mail in my voter registration card Well that stinks! You should just drive back real quick and vote :giggle momtoM&D 11-04-2008, 10:52 AM OK, now I voted. ;) barb 11-04-2008, 10:58 AM Well that stinks! You should just drive back real quick and vote :giggle They still wouldn't let me.... I had to get my crap together by October 20. Wouldn't it be great if we could re-wind time? surmick 11-04-2008, 11:32 AM You actually could vote by provisional. That is where you have to fill out a little more info and the judge will okay you but your vote still gets counted. jellybeanmichelle 11-04-2008, 11:34 AM I dropped mine off on Sunday. There was a line even for that. And besides just dropping it off, you also had to sign something saying you dropped it off. tcolera 11-04-2008, 11:34 AM I dropped off my absentee today!! lizirroja 11-04-2008, 11:49 AM That is funny... I read the title of the thread and I thought "Heck, yes!" and that was your option. oriomomma 11-04-2008, 11:55 AM I thought Heck Yes too...and it was the choice! lol. I went this morning when I dropped my son off at school. So nice to have the polling place in his gym! It wasn't busy though. I was #52. Hopefully everyone in the area will vote!! This is a HUGE election this year! Not just for the president, but the propositions! barb 11-04-2008, 01:36 PM You actually could vote by provisional. That is where you have to fill out a little more info and the judge will okay you but your vote still gets counted. But where do I go? I'm a California state resident living in Alaska. I'm not changing my residency. Adriana 11-04-2008, 01:50 PM I just googled provisional ballots and what is says is that you must be 1) a registered voter and 2) cast your ballot in the election district where you reside. It says that "moving" is one the reasons to be issued a provisional ballot. However, I found this on a Maryland state website so it might not apply in Alaska . . . can you call your local voting place and check with them? Kellie_MO5 11-04-2008, 01:52 PM But where do I go? I'm a California state resident living in Alaska. I'm not changing my residency. Just fly your butt back real quick :giggle (that's what I meant by my first reply.. lol) and I voted! Just got back from doing so.. Go me! Stacey 11-04-2008, 02:04 PM I'll be going once DH gets home. It's his first time voting ever (SO PROUD :D) so we're going together. I'm used to voting in the early or mid-morning. Hope it's not too crazy later this afternoon. I'm guessing as long as we get down there before the 5pm crowd shows up it will still be quick. colleen&Kail 11-04-2008, 02:40 PM this might be a dumb question but can i bring kai with me? into the booth part? PixiesPlayhouse 11-04-2008, 02:45 PM this might be a dumb question but can i bring kai with me? into the booth part? I remember standing at mom and dads feet while they voted....... I am pretty sure you can. surmick 11-04-2008, 02:50 PM this might be a dumb question but can i bring kai with me? into the booth part? yes you can. Shanta 11-04-2008, 04:58 PM Yep voted Logan in tow. :) Brookepanda 11-04-2008, 05:00 PM I remember standing at mom and dads feet while they voted....... I am pretty sure you can. :yeah I dropped my ballot off while homegirl was naping (she's still sleeping) and left her home with dh while he grumbled something about bringing him back an ice cream cone 'or else' :giggle Lorah 11-04-2008, 05:01 PM Mav went with us....and always has.... once i was even nursing him when in the "booth" if I can even call it that... ours are just tall tables with sides so your neighbor can't see in....no curtain, nothing enclosed. Mav also likes to run around the room where it's held and get stickers and flirt with the workers. becky 11-04-2008, 05:57 PM I just got home from voting (turning in my absentee ballot in person since I never got around to mailing it :bag ). I must say I felt quite patriotic :) Then I headed over to Starbucks for my free coffee :):yeah exactly. I went with DH and forgot my absentee ballot at home so once he was done i head back to get mine and drop it off. From there we went straight over to pick up Kayla from school and then to starbucks :tongue howardvm 11-04-2008, 06:15 PM Just got home now! I am so happy to live in the little town of Cotati. Walk in and walk out, no waiting in long lines:) Plus, I had my notes of how I was voting, so just went in, marked based on my list, and left all within 5 minutes:) jellybeanmichelle 11-04-2008, 06:35 PM Just got home now! I am so happy to live in the little town of Cotati. Walk in and walk out, no waiting in long lines:) Plus, I had my notes of how I was voting, so just went in, marked based on my list, and left all within 5 minutes:) It will be interesting to hear if there are any lines when dh does it. He just called a few minutes to say he was on his way home. So, he should be there about 6:30pm. Stacey 11-04-2008, 06:44 PM We were there about 5. I didn't have to wait but I got the last booth so DH had to wait for a couple minutes. What I thought was funny was that there were people in the 2 booths next to me when I walked up. I finished, DH filled my spot, and they were STILL there when he finished.... I don't get it.... Do people seriously get to the polls without knowing how they are going to vote? Geeze... they send out all the sample ballots and info packets in plenty of time to do some research! Leigh 11-04-2008, 06:45 PM Just got home now! I am so happy to live in the little town of Cotati. Walk in and walk out, no waiting in long lines:) Plus, I had my notes of how I was voting, so just went in, marked based on my list, and left all within 5 minutes:) DITTO that, but replace "Cotati" with "Forestville"! :) . becky 11-04-2008, 07:07 PM our place was really empty but i am not sure it that is based on the time of day we went. What time did you all go vote? MamaLaura 11-04-2008, 07:30 PM Sent mine in a couple of weeks ago :) lovesthebaby 11-04-2008, 07:46 PM Jacob and I walked to my polling place and voted, it was in the mid-morning and there was no wait. oriomomma 11-04-2008, 08:36 PM this might be a dumb question but can i bring kai with me? into the booth part? I have a feeling this might have been slightly illegal..but my husband had my son fill in the bubbles on the voting card. Lorah 11-04-2008, 08:49 PM Becky, I went at 7 this morning, it was us, and one other man.... it was quiet! Ohhh and the people working were soooo tired looking hahahaha my ballots were all organized wrong :shake oh well though..... It's amazing to me to see the lines places that are 1 to 2 hours long! INSANE! PixiesPlayhouse 11-04-2008, 09:43 PM It's amazing to me to see the lines places that are 1 to 2 hours long! INSANE! Insane, but so awesome!!!!!!!! The fact that people came out to vote....and then stood in long lines for the privilege! ktjo17 11-04-2008, 09:49 PM We dropped off our absentee ballots. We need to switch back to just going. Phil was in school on Tuesday nights for the last four years, but since he's finally done with his apprenticeship we don't need to do absentee ballots anymore. KaisaG 11-04-2008, 10:53 PM I vote absentee but forgot to mail them before the due date so I dropped them off at the polling place at the old folks home down the street. I took mine and dh's (that he let me fill out for him with the exception of prop 8) Lorah 11-05-2008, 08:18 AM Insane, but so awesome!!!!!!!! The fact that people came out to vote....and then stood in long lines for the privilege! Heck yes!!!!!! :thumb |
