Does anyone have any experience with croup?
I think Baby Eman's cold may have progressed to that because his cough got worse overnight and now every single time he coughs he starts to cry. I gave him some Tylenol, but I don't know what else I can do for him to make him feel better... It's so sad :(
no experience but :hug
hope he feels better soon

Poor Baby E. I don't have any advice since neither Patty or Tyler had Croup. Call Pedeatric Associates in the morning. Even though, it is Saturday they do have a walk in clinic. I don't remember what time they open on Sat. I think it is 9AM, but I am not sure.
Maybe just try and keep fluids in him? Hope he is feeling better soon.

If baby E has croup, he will sound like a barking seal when he coughs. Just to help loosen up his congestion, you turn on the shower and get the bathroom steamy and sit in there with him. Leave the shower going and let him breath in some steam. Do you have a humidifier? I think it makes a big difference for Caden when he has chest congestion and has had every pulmonary ailment from RSV to pneumonia to a plain wheeze. Call Pediatric Assoc in the morning, like Kate said they have Saturday office hours.

Thanks Megan- Funny thing - when I read your post last night I was just getting ready to put him in the bathroom while I showered. It seemed to make him feel a little better and I noticed that he didn't cough as much. I called my sister (who is in medical school to become a PA) and she gave me some advice and ruled out some stuff based on the vacs that he's had so far. I turned on his humidifier to help loosen the phlegm, and gave him some Tylenol to help make him more comfortable. Poor Baby. I have to work today- so I told my hubby to call the doc's office when they open at 9am. They are only open for 2 hours so I don' tknow how likely it is that he will get an appt. I told my hubby to be ready to walk out the door when he calls just in case.

The doc said he has a bad virus that will have to run it's course- so it's not something that they could give him something and he'd start feeling better instantly. Sigh... Looks like it will be a long, tough weekend at our house...
Oh, I am sorry. Mia got RSV from Jacob when she was just 6 weeks old-that is a nasty virus. She had to be on breathing treatments and everything. Hope he feels better soon!

I hope baby E gets better fast.
Look at the bright side, atleast your not dealing with baby throw-up.
That's the part I hate when Victoria gets sick.

Thanks so much for all the support everyone.. Now if I could just get my jackass of a husband to understand that I am sick too, (and so is the baby) so his ass needs to help out more than usual... Sorry... I'm just tired and pissed off and sick of his crap today. :cuss
And he just read over my shoulder and is pissed that I am actually posting this... His answer to that is to NOT take the baby so I have to watch him even though I JUST told him I am exhausted. I mean after all- I did get MY ass and go to work at 6:15am today. Instead of helping me out and being supportive he's sitting on his lazy ass the living room watching those f***ing cartoons. I swear to God I am going to cancel that damn channel. :hitchair

My husband is pretty good to do stuff with Caden. But occassionally he needs a gentle shove to get with it. The last time I was sick and he was too busy on the computer or whatever he was doing to take care of Caden I told him that the next time he was sick, I would not pick up the slack from him. He knows me well enough to know that I'm serious and he needs to get it together. Just today, I told him he needed to put Caden down for his nap and he wanted to know why I couldn't do it, well because I get him ready for nap every day and he can do it once in awhile and his retort was I get him ready for bed when you're working. Woo hoo, 3 days a week!
Anyway, hope that everyone is feeling better soon.

My husband, Ken, also is great about helping with the kids with watching them and helping when they/I am sick. He works long hours in SF/San Jose, so he knows that we are a team and he is very considerate about helping out.
Hope that you and Baby E are feeling better soon.

I hope you guys are feeling better soon! Most husbands take awhile to get their stuff together, they are used to just thinking about themselves and being the babies so when kids come along they have to make a shift. Mine still sticks his head up his @ss every once in awhile and he has been a dad for years :)

Thanks Lynette- Now I don't feel so alone!! :)
Emanuel has days where he is really good, and then does a 180 the next day. He's better today than he was yesterday... I got up and went grocery shopping while he stayed home with the baby (we usually all go together). Anyway he actually helped me put the food away since Baby E was sleeping. All that even though this morning he woke up with a sore throat and has been coughing. Sigh. So now I'm re-thinking the whole flu shot thing. I've NEVER had one (not even when the doc told me to get one last year when I was pregnant). But my work is having a "flu shot clinic" coming up and they are going to be giving them for free. It just seems so hit or miss with them. Anyone else have any experience with getting them???

I alway get them, but you still always get sick. There are like a million strains of colds and flu so I don't know. I guess I really have never noticed a huge difference between the years I did and did not get one. I'm gonna do it this year though. Last year I was having terrible anxiety because of all my hormonal stuff so I was like the first one in line for Lucca and myself cause I was so stressed about the bird flu. I can never tell the difference between a cold and the flu anyways.

Besides my husband being a totaly pain in the ass this week he really steped up last night. I had my freind maribel over yesterday and we baked pumkin bread and made dinner which turned a nice little afternoon together into an all day thing. I had a great time but since i didn't get to bed until 4am yesterday morning becuase the neighbors were having a party and then only got 6 hours of sleep i was a wreck. With no nap i wan't in any kind of mood to clean the kitchen but Victor got up with out giving it a second thought, cleaned up the table after dinner, washed the dishes and made sure i was okay before heading off to bed.
I dont get the flu shot, never had but that is just me. I dont think i have ever gotten a readdy bad flu or cold considering my husband gets sick all the time and i'm always the one to take care of everyone when they are sick.

I've always gotten a flu shot after I had a bad, bad case of the flu years ago. Sometimes after I get the shot, I get the flu, but it is mild compared to having it be much worse without the shot. Hope you and Baby E are feeling better today.

When the vaccine is prepared for the year, they (whoever it is that takes care of this :) try to figure out what strains of flu are going to be the most common this flu season and that is the vaccine that is distributed. You can still get the flu, because there are so many strains of flu. The flu shot can not give you the flu, because the vaccine used is from a dead virus. However, the new nasal vaccine is made from a live virus and you can potentially get a mild flu from that. When I get a flu shot or when I get one for Caden, I make sure it is thimerosol free. Thimerosol is a mercury based preservative and the flu vaccine is the only vaccination that continues to have this as a preservative.
