View Full Version : When will you get your Tree? Sara 11-25-2008, 10:39 AM When do you plan on getting your Christmas tree and decorating? wyattsmama 11-25-2008, 10:41 AM this weekend or next weekend. not positive yet. barb 11-25-2008, 10:41 AM We have a fake tree. Dh is thinking about decorating before Thursday, but more than likely it'll be done this weekend. surmick 11-25-2008, 10:42 AM Technically we already have them (fake Trees) but we are putting them up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I want to get everyday that I can get out of them. Sara 11-25-2008, 10:43 AM I said first weekend in December, but I don't know what our plans are this weekend. Thanksgiving is so late this year, I am ready to start decorating for Christmas. Maritza 11-25-2008, 10:47 AM We are not going to decorate the house this year:bag I will just hang all the Christmas cards we get:giggle We are not spending Christmas in California:yahoo Lorah 11-25-2008, 11:04 AM I can't post a vote yet cause I have no idea when Travis will be okay getting it.... if it were up to me I'd have one up on Friday :giggle I have a feeling it won't be until a couple of weeks from now though. erin anne 11-25-2008, 11:05 AM Are you going to Peru Maritza? We have a fake 12ft tree, will probably put it up this weekend. Maritza 11-25-2008, 11:21 AM Are you going to Peru Maritza?. Oh I wish!!!:prayer :prayer :prayer .......But nope, we are just flying domestic and hoping for a white Christmas in Colorado:love We will be gone for 2 weeks, it should be lots of fun! PhreSpirit 11-25-2008, 11:45 AM I think we're going to get a real tree this year! :) It's going to be a hectic month for us, so hopefully it will be within the first couple weeks! Lorah 11-25-2008, 12:08 PM I think we're going to get a real tree this year! :) It's going to be a hectic month for us, so hopefully it will be within the first couple weeks! THis is our thought too.....one reason I wanted to get my decorations up like NOW....cause who knows when the baby will come kwim. I bet you are so excited! Baby's first Christmas! :D Maja 11-25-2008, 12:08 PM We'll get it the weekend before December 11. The 11th is my daughter's birthday and I went into labor while I was trimming the tree--and it lasted all day so I finished decorating. So, trimming the tree on her birthday is a new tradition. But, since she gets a special holiday thing for her birthday, we're doing special Halloween stuff for the twins bdays and spring stuff for our son's bday so no one feels left out. We always get a real tree. That's one of the few die-hard traditions I have. I love the smell and it wouldn't feel like Christmas without it. Brookepanda 11-25-2008, 12:13 PM we will get our tree the day after Madelynns birthday...so December 1st We're going to go to Little Hills Tree Farm (http://www.littlehillschristmastree.com/treefarm.html) this year...that way we can visit with the animals, check out the gift shop...chop down our own tree...and take a photo with Santa :D Leigh 11-25-2008, 12:29 PM Technically we also already have the tree -- it's a live Douglass Fir in a pot -- but we won't be bringing it in and decorating until after I finish this month's deadline. So probably the week of the 8th. Not sure what it's going to be like with a curious and determined toddler around this time!!! I'm thinking the 'heirloom' ornaments are going to stay in the box this year.... . Stacey 11-25-2008, 12:48 PM We'll go on 12/6 or 12/7. Can't wait :) We're going to go to Garlock Tree farm again. http://www.garlocktreefarm.com/ Lorah 11-25-2008, 01:01 PM We'll go on 12/6 or 12/7. Can't wait :) We're going to go to Garlock Tree farm again. http://www.garlocktreefarm.com/ That place looks great! How much do their trees run? Do you remember? We can't spend much more than $15 on a tree...and so I'm guessing to get one as big (4 feet) as nice as we did last year that might be a fun place to go, but just not get the tree from. Stacey 11-25-2008, 01:26 PM That place looks great! How much do their trees run? Do you remember? We can't spend much more than $15 on a tree...and so I'm guessing to get one as big (4 feet) as nice as we did last year that might be a fun place to go, but just not get the tree from. Let's see... Quicken says we spent $56. But as I recall we got a 6' tree, hot chocolate for Scott and I, and a couple ornaments too. My parents swear by the Home Depot tree lot. They get them CRAZY cheap. Of course they also procrastinate and end up getting a tree a few days (maybe a week) before X-mas, so maybe by then HD is just trying to get rid of their inventory. PhreSpirit 11-25-2008, 01:30 PM THis is our thought too.....one reason I wanted to get my decorations up like NOW....cause who knows when the baby will come kwim. I bet you are so excited! Baby's first Christmas! :D We are really excited! Hopfeully he'll be here before Christmas! :fingerscrossed The Dr.'s have told me it could be anytime that week too. :rolleyes That place looks great! That place does look really neat! Lorah, they have a printable coupon for $5 off a precut noble fir. I'm not really sure what that will do for the final price, but $5 is $5! :) Lorah 11-25-2008, 01:42 PM That place does look really neat! My husband has not done it yet. I think he would rather cut off a finger than put Amelia's clothes on her. I looooove Thanksgiving, but I figure that if I'm going to spend all the effort to decorate, I want it all up for at least a month. The tree, well, it is in a box in the garage. I swore I would never get a fake tree, but I sure love it! PhreSpirit 11-26-2008, 09:31 AM oh in that case I might have to go buy one as a baby gift for you and he wont have a chance to say no :giggle oh i just had a thought....it could be his coming home outfit from the hospital :cool I've got a baby's first xmas santa hat you're welcome to borrow if he's here in time :thumb You're both sooo sweet!!! :love Thank You! :hug Maja 11-26-2008, 01:06 PM I have a story up on my website about Christmas Tree Farms in Sonoma County with a listing of what they offer--carriage rides, bounce houses, gift shops, types of trees, some pricing, etc. etc... http://santarosa.about.com/od/familyactivities/a/TopXmasTrees.htm BTW, I think all the updates are up, but in case anyone sees anything wrong, or knows of something new, please let me know. becky 11-26-2008, 01:35 PM I have a story up on my website about Christmas Tree Farms in Sonoma County with a listing of what they offer--carriage rides, bounce houses, gift shops, types of trees, some pricing, etc. etc... http://santarosa.about.com/od/familyactivities/a/TopXmasTrees.htm BTW, I think all the updates are up, but in case anyone sees anything wrong, or knows of something new, please let me know.very cool Maja. Brookepanda 11-28-2008, 03:43 PM I'm dying to get my tree TODAY...but we agreed we'd wait until after Maders birthday :mecry jellybeanmichelle 11-28-2008, 05:02 PM I'm dying to get my tree TODAY...but we agreed we'd wait until after Maders birthday :mecry There might be a tree here when you arrive on Monday. :) lizirroja 11-28-2008, 07:16 PM My tree is up!! :) Theresa 11-28-2008, 07:24 PM we got ours tonight! yay! Travis wants to wait now! :( I have no idea how long, but come on, I want a tree NOW! :mecry colleen&Kail 11-28-2008, 09:44 PM just talked to my parents about this-were going next weekend! woohoo! barb 11-29-2008, 12:18 AM Our tree is 99% up. :) It needs a few more ornaments and a new star or angel at the top because our old one is too big. Stacey 11-29-2008, 08:21 AM Oh man, looks like I might have to wait until Dec 14th :( This weekend was just too early. We did it this time last year and by X-mas the tree was SO dry. And I insist on leaving it up until Jan 1st so we need another week. I thought we'd go next weekend but I forgot about some plans so I don't think we'll try to squeeze it in. So that leaves us with the 13th or 14th... I guess we could go during the week if DH gets off work early enough, but on the weekend they do horse-drawn carriage rides at Garlock Tree Farm and I really want to do that this year. jellybeanmichelle 11-29-2008, 08:18 PM Garlock Tree Farm. On their website they have a $5 off any "pre-cut" Noble fir. The tree is sitting there half-naked! I need to finish decorating before Christmas.... . |
