Does anyone know of a good place to get a good pair of glasses w/o totally sending me to the poorhouse? I got my new Rx last night at Lenscrafters, but I don't want to buy them there because they are SO pricey. Even with 30% off for being a AAA member it still seems like so much. The last pair that I got from there were almost $500- and that was like 7 years ago.

I was thinking that Wal-mart and Costco might be good places to start... Anyone have any experience with either of them? I'd prefer that they have the spring-loaded hinges because the whole reason that the ones that I had broke, is because Baby Eman has gotten VERY good at pulling them off of me... and Tuesday he pulled on them when I went to give him a kiss and the side piece broke off. :duh At least his motor skills seem to be in line :)

Luckily I have a spare pair to wear until I get some new ones- Only problem with them is that they aren't strong enough, and they are VERY scratched- which makes it REALLY hard for me to drive at night because of the glare.

Thanks in advance!!

I got mine at Lencrafters about 2 years ago for about $200. I need to go back in and have my eyes checked.

I haven't done Wal-Mart or Costco.
I will recommend Dr. Brunes (sp?) on the corner of State Farm drive and the street you take to the police office.
His office sells glasses. The ladies in the office are really nice.
The price of glasses depends on what brand and stuff you get.
I have Brooks Brothers.

dunno how spendy their glasses are, but there's a place over by the Ritz Camera in the SR mall... that's where I got my contacts and i think i got like 1 or 2 years worth of contacts for $300

I know Costcos prices for contacts are awesome, not sure how they compare with glasses to other places.

Yeah I need to find a place that doesn't charge up the butt for the super thin lenses... If I don't get those I look like I'm wearing Coke bottles. I think that's why they were so pricey the last time I went to Lensecrafters. My new Rx has me at 20/400 and 20/425... In other words... if I didn't KNOW that was a big E at the top I couldn't tell you.

I get my eye exams and glasses/contacts (I only wear contacts occasionally) at LensCrafters. But I have a really light prescription. I think it was between $200- $400 for my glasses and they have the magnetic clip on sunglasses. I just like them there b/c you don't have to wait days to get your glasses. And actually I just got a notice in the mail from them a couple weeks ago that it's been over a year since my last exam so I need to go in!

Sorry, I go to an eye doctor here in RP who calls me every year because Brian's insurance pays for a brand new pair every year so I don't even know how much they really cost?
