The Sonoma County Museum is sponsoring a robot workshop on Saturday, January 31st from 1-4pm in conjunction with our upcoming Robots: the Evolution of a Cultural Icon exhibit opening January 23rd. The workshop will be taught by Marc Helfman, Rick Phelan, and Steve Williams, three professionals who are very involved with robotics education and the Sonoma County Robotics Challenge. This activity will offer participants an introduction to robotics using Lego Mindstorm kits, the NXT programmable robot, and the Pico Cricket center. Hands-on activities will include:

* Construction of a programmable wheel-bot

* Programming with Mindstorm’s NXT software to address specific challenges

* Building and programming a simple kinetic sculpture

The workshop is open to participants 9years old and up. Cost is $45 general, $35 members. Reservations are required as space is limited. Please call 707-579-1500 x17 or email lcox@sonomacountymuseum.org for reservations or inquiries.

Here's their latest workshop info... There is a free family day on February 7th that is for kids of all ages.

As I was about to open this Mav is in the other room chanting "robot" over and over and over.....Hmmmm I wonder if he would like a robot workshop! :giggle
