well, you all know about wyatt's odd green poop for no reason. he had 2 more yesterday. last night was nick's work xmas party, so wyatt hung out at the grandparents. when we were dropping him off, i told them i wanted him drinking only water a lot because he had barely peed yesterday and it was making me worry. he had eaten a ton, and literally had 2 barely wet diapers thoughout the day. we ended up asking if they could just watch him overnight so we could get some sleep, which they did. this morning when we went to pick him up, he was still napping. so we got to talking and they said he had been fussy and didn't seem like he was feeling good. they also said he had had serious watery diarrhea. when he woke up he was cranky, and i bfed him (which hasn't happened during the day time for a long long time). i was changing his diaper when nick noticed one of his teeth was finally popping through! (this sucked has been making us all miserable for seriously 2 months!! it just keeps getting lower but has yet to break the skin, very weird...) so we figured that explained it. we gave him some teething tbalets and he was totally happy. we ended up taking him to lunch since it was just teething. he's sitting in the high chair and starts fussing so i pick him up. he REEKED!! and then he lets loose some more and i can tell he's had more diarrhea. so i got to the bathroom to change it. it had immediately made his bottom red and he sat there crying because he was in pain (didn't even try to fight the diaper change which is very unlike him). so we finish up and come home. we walk in the door and 2 second later he pukes all over himself and the floor. as soon as he did that he was happy and fine, but acting sleepy. so we sat down to read some books, but started puching them away and started to fall asleep on me :throblove he never does that so i knew something was up. i went to lie him in his crib and he immediatly passed out...not even 2 hours after waking up from his first nap. i feel so bad for him. he's amazingly upbeat considering all that's going on. no fever, no runny nose or cough. anyone have any ideas on what may be going on with him??

Poor little guy. Cutting teeth must be hard for everyone. I have read that all those symptoms you describe can be b/c of teething, but maybe you should double check with a Dr., you never know.

i just don't know! i've been racking my brain about the color of the poop and now his happens...i mean he literally has access to nothing! living room, bedroom, hallway...that's it! he only gets to eat what he's been given...i'm stumped. officially.

If you Google green poop it will probably tell you it could be viral. I'd think it would move a little faster than that, but that really bad smelling watery diarhea definitely sounds like a intestional bug. Watch him closely for signs of dehydration and stick to the boob each and every time he asks for it (or even if he doesn't) because little ones can crash fast. Alaina got a similar bug at 14 mo and lost a few pounds and took a trip to the ER for dehydration. I don't think she had anything but boob for over a week.

"4. Teething pain can last for weeks or months before a tooth finally appears.
FALSE: Teething ONLY causes discomfort around the time your baby's tooth is ready to break through his gum. Teething discomfort generally lasts for only a couple of days. (Many babies experience NO discomfort from teething.) Long periods of irritability, which are commonly blamed on teething, are generally due to other reasons.
5. Teething causes fever.
FALSE: An elevated temperature is due to an INFECTION somewhere in your baby's body. Although your baby's gum may become red and swollen when a tooth is ready to break through to the surface, this is due to pressure against his gum from the tooth as it's ready to emerge and NOT due to an infection.
6. Teething cause diarrhea.
FALSE: Many people claim diarrhea is a sign of teething, contributing this to swallowing excessive amounts of saliva. Because a child's stomach contains a mild hydrochloric acid, the amount of saliva swallowed is UNLIKELY to make any great difference. However, loose bowel movements at the time of teething could be explained as a result of a tummy upset due to the fact that a teething child bites and chews on just about anything they can get into their mouth... clean or NOT so clean."

gastroenteritis - or tummy virus. ??? Could have put his hand down his diaper then put hand in mouth? Keep track of his fluid intake and output. offer pleanty of fluid, even pedialyte. if the inside of his mouth seems dry then he is overly dehydrated and needs to go the the ER for IV fluids.

This is all I found from mayoclinic.com
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/stool-color/AN00772
Answer
Stool comes in a range of colors. All shades of brown and even green are considered normal. Only rarely does stool color indicate a potentially serious intestinal condition.
Stool color is generally influenced by what you eat as well as by the amount of bile — a yellow-green fluid that digests fats — in your stool. As bile pigments travel through your gastrointestinal tract, they are chemically altered by enzymes — changing the pigments from green to brown.
Consult your doctor if you're concerned about your stool color. If your stool is bright red or black — which may indicate the presence of blood — seek prompt medical attention.
Stool color What it may mean Possible dietary causes
Green Food is moving through the large intestine too quickly, such as due to diarrhea. As a result, bile doesn't have time to break down completely. Green leafy vegetables, green food coloring, such as in Kool-Aid or popsicles, iron supplements.
Light-colored, white or clay-colored A lack of bile in stool. This may indicate a bile duct obstruction. Certain medications, such as large doses of bismuth subslicylate (Kaopectate, Pepto-Bismol) and other anti-diarrheal drugs.
Yellow, greasy, foul-smelling Excess fat in the stool, such as due to a malabsorption disorder. Sometimes the protein gluten, such as in celiac disease. But see a doctor for evaluation.
Black Bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract, such as the stomach. Iron supplements, bismuth subsalicylate (Kaopectate, Pepto-Bismol), black licorice.
Bright red Bleeding in the lower intestinal tract, such as the large intestine or rectum. Red food coloring, beets, cranberries, tomato juice or soup, red Jell-O or Kool-Aid.

more puking. 2 times more tonight. nothing has stayed down. he smacks water away from him. same after i went out and bought him pedialyte. still no fever, and in good spirits othe rthan being sleepy. pulling on his ears a little bit. i'm going to call the doctor in the morning since he's now grabbing at his ears too just to be sure and have them take a look to see if he's hydrated enough since he's refusing it all. and to make sure nothing is up with his ears now on top of it all. i just want him to feel better :mecry

I saw pedialite tongue strips the other day you might want to try those since he won't consume fluids....also remember to give fluids slowly as to not shock the stomach, through a slow flow nipple or a teaspoon or two at a time...popsicles or frozen pedialite in a mesh feeder may help too...hope he feels better :)

i'm taking him to the doctor this morning.
he woke up at 7, promplty had a massive diarrhea again :(
then i gave him a boob, which he threw up within minutes of finishing. then (not even 30 minutes after sleeping through the entire night) asked to go back to sleep. he is not happily out in his crib again. poor little fella. still doing a little tugging at his ears. still refusing any kind of sippy cup, spoon, everything. i feel so bad. and i feel like forcing him to take it is going to make his tummy worse.

pedaylite popsicles are also good too. I would see the DR. there is sooo much going around, it may not just be the teething.
Hope he feels better soon.

well, she said he's ok right now. she said if the puking at least didn't stop by tonight that w should probably take him in to get an iv. she gave me some more ideas about what to give him to get him rehydrated. so far it's working.
he's accepting what i'm offering him and then begged for some food, so i've given him some saltines and he just keeps crying for more. so i'm hoping this helps. he's still exhausted. just woke up from a long nap again and is lethargic, but at least he has enough energy to fight me off when i try to give him somethign he doesn't want.

So did they not tell you what he had? Is it a stomach bug? Or like food poisoning or something like that?

My daughter Maia (20 months) had the same thing a couple weeks ago and we all got it eventually. Same exact symptoms. She snapped out of it but I kept giving her pedialyte and water and didn't force any food on her. My MIL and SIL were visiting and they got it too. I felt like I was cleaning up poop and puke 24/7 for a couple days there.
What was strange about it was that Maia didn't seem to be bothered by the puking and was acting pretty normal, just lots of sleeping so I didn't panic. It went through all of us with different time frames. Maia and I got it twice for about 48 hours each. MIL had it longer, DH only a day.
It must be making its rounds. Six degrees of stomach flu separation.
This too shall pass...

Sorry you guys got the bug!! I'm glad Wy is better now, though I know how hard it is to take care of the kiddos while down for the count :D

Its the totally random vomiting that made me a little loony. I remember having it in my hair for much longer than should be allowed!
Happy and playing with toys - Maia would puke
Getting dressed - Maia would puke
Laying down - Maia would puke
Riding in the car - Maia would puke
Not to mentions changing a gazillion diapers - ugh!
A few other people I've talked to have had this "wave" go through their houses as well. Again, some more afftected than others.
