The truck that Scott drives, used to be me mine and I got the new vehicle! I hate it when he drives my car too... he messes up my mirrors, changes the seat and the vents and tunes the radio into sports talk! Who wants to listen to that :lol

ugh. Jr does that too. I got him XM radio to listen to sports radio all the time for his car, and apparently that isn't good enough. I get out of the car to run into the store to pick up a gallon of milk and I come back out to ESPN radio

Although both of our names are on the titles, Brian drives the 2005 Town and Country van and I mainly drive the 98 Explorer although on the weekends or when I am running errands and he is home I will take the van.

We both have newer cars. Me 2003 Grand Carvan. Dh 2006 Scion XB. His is just cleaner since he's usually the only one on it except for occasional weekend when we use his car to run errands. Mine looks very lived in but with three kids and always running to actiivties/apppointments.

When we got preggers with Sevannah I had a 96 Saturn SL with NO power anything! There was no room in the back seat for an infant seat so we knew we had to sell it. We thought we'd have a while before we had to get a new car b/c we figured after putting it in the paper it wouldn't sell right away... Ummm NOT! It sold in less than a week! So we had been looking at the MDX and once my Saturn was gone we went and bought our MDX. :) It's "my" car! It's a 2003. James has a 2000 F350 Super Duty duallie. That's his "baby"! :lol

I voted other too... I have the nicer car (IMO, I have a '98 dodge ram conversion van) but Matt has the newer car ( a 2006 ford ranger, bare necessities)

I say mine I have an 04 Jeep LIberty is always cleaner than Victors even though he has the newer an 05 Toyota Matrix. We drive his car everywhere it uses less gas.

It depends on who you ask!! I think my car is better... it's a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ, which means it's loaded (and fast). I love my car. But it's usually covered in cheerios and cracker crumbs. DH has a 2002 Dodge Quad Cab pickup. It's his baby too! (Guys and their trucks, huh, Anna?) He hates my car. Says it's too dirty and it's embarassing him. And it's too low and hard to get into. :tongue But I make him drive it on weekends cuz it's waaaay cheaper on gas!

Guys and their trucks, huh, Anna?

I KNOW! We're driving to Idaho for Thanksgiving and were taking the truck so we had to get a camper shell for it (well his parents paid for it so we would go! ;)) But it wasn't the one he wanted so it seriously ruined his day today! I'm like "a camper shell ruined your day?" :rolleyes and his response was "ya it did! my truck looks like it belongs to an Oakie!" It took all I had not to bust out laughing! I just reminded him that it just has to keep out stuff dry on this trip and then he can have the "right one" ordered! :lol

One of the really great perks to Nate's job is his "truck allowance." His job requires him to own a truck that is no older than 3 yrs old and has no more than 120,000. well, he drives about 60,000 a year, so that means he get's a new truck every couple of years. And they give us a nice little chunk of money each month to cover the payment. So - needless to say, he will probably have the nicer car for quite a while!!

We bought a new car, a Hyundai Elantra 5 door, back in May of 2005. I drive that. My husband drives the 99 Hyundai Accent.

My hubby drives a 93 Honda Civic, and until January of 2006 I thought he had the better car as my old 91 Dodge Grand Caravan was on its last limb. Then last January I got a new 06 Caravan. Not a Grand Caravan, but we plan on the upgrade in a year or two. It feels good to drive somewhere without the assitance of AAA (Awful Automobiles Anonomous, lol just kidding).

I still drive the nicer car.
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer with a 3rd row.
Jr now has my old 1997 ford explorer sport.

and THATS all that matters!

I have my first carpayment now. I've owned 2 cars. One I bought with cash, and one was given to my by my parents b/c some lunatic without insurance rear ended me and totalled my paid in cash car.

Jackie - how are you liking your new car? We've been thinking about trading in Scott's truck and definitely want something with 3rd row.

looooooooooooooooooooooove it.
Put it to use less than a week after buying it when we brought becky home from the hospital. lol.
It's SO convenient.
And in my explorer sport my graco quattro tour travel system stroller barely fit in the back (groceries had to go on top of it) and in this one it fits long wise in the car, leaving half of the "trunk" open completely.

my caravan has a third row, but I would highly recommend that anyone purchasing a dodge minivan do not get the caravan go for the grand caravan. The leg room for the back two rows is ridiculous in the caravan, as is the cargo space in the back. If I was not just toting kids back there, I would not have this model. We just got a good deal on it.

With the Grand Caravan you also get the stow and go storage which I totally love.

megan: Another few that we were looking at were the Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot. The Pilot was a bit out of our price range, though, since it's so new.
Our Explorer blue booked at $15,5 and I got them down to $11,1 so it was a super good deal.
We knew we NEEDED the third row (thanks to my other post, lol) but a minivan just wasn't an option for us as it's not really our 'style'. I've always had SUVs since I first got my drivers license and have a hard time transitioning to anything else for an extended amt of time.
When in florida we have a minivan that my moms friend loans up (b/c it's my mom, dad, brother, me, jr and brendan all in one car)... then when we go places just jr and I, etc, we take either their Miata or Jaguar or my dad's old Corvette before he just sold it.
So I'm kind of "used" to driving other types, but am not even CLOSE to being as comfortable in them as I am in an SUV... so b/c of that, it really limited what we were able to look at.

We have a Highlander and love it. If we were going brand new, I would get a Highlander with 3rd row. But we'll have get something a little older, maybe 2000-2003. I am not a mini van kind of person either. However, Scott would not mind a minivan but I would never drive it :lol I prefer a truck or SUV and that is what I have always owned, with few exceptions and hated the cars the entire time I had them :)

LMS

yeah, we don't buy new either.
I don't think I'll ever buy a *new* car.. I'll always go atleast 1 year old. The markup on new cars is jsut rediculous considering how much they depreciate after being driven off the lot. It isn't worth it to me.

we have our first mini van and who knows if this is our future. I do know that i would love to have a "truck" one day since those are what i'm most comfortable in.

Jackie: thanks for letting me help break in your new car

I didn't think so either but Brian *wanted* ours because of the DVD, butt warmers, stow and go seats, etc so it is the car he drives a lot but I find myself driving it quite a bit when he isn't using it because it has airbags up the whazoo and Alaina likes the DVD. The stow and go seating is *very* cool and useful, especially when I am hauling a Dane or two :)

Our agreement now is that when Salina starts driving in a couple of years (ACK!) that we will give her my Explorer, I will probably take the van, and then we will get a new car, maybe something sporty to compensate for the van otherwise I would get another SUV.

is the stow and go just where it lays flat down flush with the back?

I don't know if ours qualifies at stow & go. It's a bench seat and it flips forward and falls down a little. Then the back of the seats is considered the bottom of the "trunk"

03-02-2007, 09:36 AM
do you think Brain will even want to give up his van? :lol

becky
03-02-2007, 09:37 AM
ya i think the stow and go are the ones that flip back and flat. that is what we really wanted for our van but couldn't get it :(

do you think Brain will even want to give up his van? :lol

LOL! I dunno, if I said he got the next new car in a couple of years he might be bored with it by then :D His friends tease him that it is the Mother Ship because it is big and silver.

Jackie- yeah, the stow and go fold into a compartment into the floor so when they are down the floor is level. Each captain seat in back can go down individually and the back benv=ch is really two seperate seats that can go dow indivually also. I think they just started putting them in some Olds in 2005 but a couple other companies have them now too?
