kail had a poop today that was between a dark grey/ black color, the concistancy was normal-not running or hard but im not sure if it is normal or not?! he is acting fine no temp. or anything. i switched formulas on him yesterday from similac to good start, could that be why?
-it didnt smell normal it smelt pretty bad liek rotten eggs or something. (ew sorry for the details)

might be just from his body adjusting to the new formula. The only poop that i know really means anything is when its green. that is a sign most times of an illness.

I don't know that I would call right.this.minute but maybe give it a few hours see what the next poop brings.
Here is another one that describes the many colors of poop, it might be the formula switch and the iron is harder for him to digest.

it mentioned on there black, grey or white, and brendan's poops turn a LITTLE white when he has to drink my milk (which causes him to become constipated) so you may want to keep an eye out andkind of "feel" how hard the poops are. The new formula may be making him constipated.
Brendan was VERY constipated on good start, btw

With Victoria having poop issues too, I found my medical dictionary.
It states, Iron and Bismuth turn the stool black, and certain vegetables and berries darken or produce a distinct color. Pathological stools are usually grayish or a whitish glistening color;tarry in hemorrhage or show fresh blood.
Have you compaired the ingredients from similac to good start?
Good Start might have a bit more iron than Similac.
Victoria's poop's smell bad too! I think we will lay low on the banana's for now.
I hope it's just the change in formula.

Back when I tried Salina on good start 13 years ago it made her poop black, almost a blackish green but it said that was normal on the can. Soooooo gross and hard to clean up! Ugh!

Colleen - I tried Good Start for Caden and it totally did not agree with him. He had horrible gas pains and it just seemed to make him feel not like his usually smily baby self. I think I tried it for 2 days and I switched back to Similac and he went right back to being himself.

changing his food can cause all sorts of problems. Like everyone else said it's most likely the change in formula. And if he's spitting up more too that's definitely the change. You might want to think about switching back if both "issue" don't clear up in a couple days.

i dont like to switch him but i wasnt sure if it would cause any problems or if he would even notice. i get all of the coupons for goodstart in the mail i thought i might as well put them to use. o well i will switch him back, maybe if i return the ones i bought i can switch them for similac....i'll just say the hubby bought the wrong kind. I bought 4 cans of the Goodstart and I returned 3 to Safeway with no problems. I didn't even have a receipt.
colleen: Are you signed up to get the similac checks in the mail? I signed up and signed JR up as well, so we got 2x the checks ;)
