honestly I'm not angry...I figure we will get it and we could use it whenever we get it...we don't have specific plans for the $ so waiting a bit for it won't put a kink in any plans...but I think it's only fair they pay an interest since taxpayers would have to if they were late to them...

hmm now that is an idea... I'll take a late payment with interest. Turns out dh's former job did seem to take out taxes, must have been when he cashed out all his accrued vacation and sick time and I think they figure that as some different formulation.

We get so much more back from fed that I'm really not worried about not getting the small amount we get from CA. It will be a nice little bonus when it does come.

I try not to give the gov (state or federal) any interest free cash in the first place so I probably won't be getting much $ back anyway.... although I don't know how much an additional dependent changes things so I guess we'll get more back this year than usual.

:yeah
and from what it looks like, even with the even withholdings, sicne we added Noelle (which dangnabit we are still waiting on her SS# to file...and that's it! :shake) we would get $500 back! So I'd LOVE to have that extra interest!

If the state has to pay interested to everyone that is getting an IOU - aren't the tax payers going to end up paying back the interest in higher taxes?
I think that I'd rather have an IOU then higher taxes to pay off a loan that the state had to get to pay interested to people that had IOU's.
I don't know, I might be talking out of my ass since I didn't read the article.
