In the past two weeks, DH and I have watched all three of these films, and I have enjoyed everyone of them.
Australia was just beautiful. That movie made me cry and cry and cry and cry and cry. I was crying for about 2 hours after the movie ended because I kept thinking about Caitlin. It was a bit long, and some parts could have been cut, but I really thought it was a beautiful story, and so beautifully shot.
Rache Getting Married really made me understand why Ann Hathaway was nominated for an Oscar. She was truly amazing in this film. I HATED her in the beginning of the movie. I really wanted to reach through the TV and wring her neck. Her character was just so immature and selfish. Then, as it was getting to the end of the movie, I realized things turned around, and now I liked her. I have no idea where in the movie that changed. But, I feel she acted that role perfectly. This one also made me cry, but nothing like Australia.
Tonight we watched The Secret Life of Bees. Really a cute movie. I really like the kind of actor Queen Latifah is becoming. I feel that her younger days were her trying to figure out what she was supposed to be in life, and now it finally all makes sense. Again a tear jerker for me, and I'm still wiping away tears as I type this.
I recommend all three of these. Australia is around 3 hours, so if you plan on watching it, plan on a long commitment. DH liked Australia. He didn't much prefer Rachel Getting Married, but he also liked The Secret Life of Bees.
