View Full Version : Holy expensive bowling, batman!
tonight was JR's work christmas party and we decided to mix it up and go bowling. They said it would be $40 per hour, so we blocked out 2 hours on 2 lanes. We had tried to call FOUR TIMES and everytime we tried, the girl we needed to talk to wasn't there. Finally Joe talked to a manager and he said he'd give us free shoe rentals and that it would be a total of $40 per hour (he knew we needed 2 lanes).
We get there. We bowl.
We go to pay
uhmmm. WRONG
$40 PER LANE PER HOUR.
we were there for 2 hours and the total was $160!!
That is OUTRAGEOUS!
This was at the bowling alley in RP by Latitude. Can't think of the name, but the initials were DD

$40 an hour! Yikes, that seems pretty outrageous.
I do think it is funny that the country club and bowling alley are side by side though. Kind of the yin and yang of the social set. LOL

Ummm...Yeh, you were ripped off!!!
I pay like a few bucks per game, per person.
Unless it was a group deal thing, not sure.
I would call them and talk to the manager or something.
I went on their website and it says it's $4.25 per person per game.. so that would put us at $68
Then (just for shits and grins) I looked up their corporate 'parties' (for groups of 10+)
and it's $40 per hour per lane.
BUT we only had 8 people. so i have every intention of calling tomorrow.

Just a thought in case you can't get it back from that s**thole... Could you guys right it off as like a business expense or something? Reimbursement...? I'm sure these are long shots... I just hate to see you guys lose all that money over bowling. I mean I'm all for spending a little $ to have a good time, but that's a lot of money for a couple of hours of fun
(haha that makes it sound like you got some cheap hookers!)
no, b/c they gave him (ready for this?) $160 for the party :( That's why when we got there, we got pizza and coke for everyone... b/c we were expecting it to be $80 for the whole group for bowling. GRR

I called. Some guy pretending to be the manager wasn't willing to budge. Once I explained how on the site it says "FOR GROUPS OF 10 OR MORE" (as the firstline of the page, LOL) he wasl ike "oh, well, you'd need to talk to the owner. He'll be here at 1"
ugh
whatever
so i guess i'm calling back at 1.

okay, so i called jr and told him i was just too stressed out thinking about this to call. I'm normally not one to get overly worked up, but the guy was a real a** to me an di didn't appreciate it. (and call me a raging femanist, but i really think he was being a jerk b/c i was a woman and he thought i had no idea what i was talking about).
So I called jr and asked him to call.
He decided to drive there b/c he didn't want to be blown off over the phone, so he went there and said the owner was a real piece of work and wasn't going to refund us the 60$ under any circumstances.
He did, however, give JR 5 passes for 2 free games each (dunno the details like shoe rentals, or how many ppl per game or whatever) which jr says is a value of about 65$, so i said cut your losses and just take them.
He's giving 3 to Joe (the other guy who had to come up with $30) and 2 for us.
Guess we'll see if i ever go there again though :(

Hmmm...wouldn't it be interesting if we all wrote a barage of emails saying we heard about this story on a local mom's board and will spread the word about their poor customer service. Given the fact that they do kid's birthday parties, I would imagine the bad press could mean a loss of some major mom dollars....
lol, there ya go lynette. Always thinkin ;)
