So I was thinking for Brian (the man who never needs/wants anything because he just buys it as soon as the thought pops into his head) that a great present for him would be something with the girls handprints/footprints, especially Alaina's because we don't have anything like that for her. I am looking for some kind of craft that would be sturdy so probably not paper and not really seasonal so he could keep it out all the time if he wanted. I remember making a handprint in some goo when I was a kid that hardened and we spray painted it with gold which would be cool but I dunno what the goo was? I am not good at this obviously :D

Any ideas or links?

that would be plaster of paris (sp) that you can get at the harware store. it comes in a small white box. It is really easy to do. Hey if you are interested, lets get together and make these this week. It would be a great gift for victor too.

that's a great idea... This year I was given a huge frame from my parents, so I'm gonna have all the kids make some drawings/paintings, and frame them in a collage with a pic of each of them next to their artwork

That is a good idea Becky! Do you think it would be too much to lump it together with baking tommorrow or do you think we should do it another day? I was reading that takes 24 hours to fully dry.

I think I have a bucket under my sink... You just add water. You are more than welcome to it if you want it!

Michael's has kits to do the hand/foot prints. Scott did a couple with Caden last year, to give to my mom. It almost looks like a stepping stone. You can decorate it with glass rocks or whatever.

My MIL gave us an ornament kit to do a handprint in for "Baby's First Christmas..."

I don't know if Brian uses hankerchiefs for anything, they're kind of old style but I remember every year my mom would buy plain white hankies for my dad and us kids would draw on them with fabric crayons. All you have to do is iron them to set the color. He carries those around TO THIS DAY. It's funny to see our old pictures saved. Maybe this would be a better project for the grampas. Brianna and I are gonna do some this year for my dad.

If it isn't too much for you all to be running around every day this week I could host on Thurday or Friday a craft day.

OMG Marisa What a FABULOUS idea... I'll have to remember that once Baby Eman is a little older. Right now he would just try to eat the crayon :)

HA HA, Brianna probably will too but I'm just going to trace her hand and then help her scribble a little!

no tomorrow is fine. xmas is just around the corner so i think it would better not to wait until the last minute. i can always start baking today and be finished with the tough stuff when you get here, besides Kaisa said she will be coming over to try some goodies so i really should be done baking anyway :)

how late are you thinking of going Becky? I have a mtg with J's teacher for his IEP tommorrow at 3:30 so we won't be done until like 4:30 probably. I hate missing out :(, but since is life.

Wow, take pics and let us know how it comes out.

Also, another idea is stamping the footprints/handprints onto fabric. Good luck with your projects ladies!
