My MIL mentioned that she would like to get us a car seat though I will believe it when i see it. In any case, i need to find one eventually since those infant seats don't last for long.
I would like to find one that goes from birth to booster (basically a convertiable seat since i can only afford to buy one seat) and is okay to take on a plane. Right now we have an Eddie Bauer for Myah which I love but as things change so much, I'm sure there are better out there.
Any suggestions?

My only suggestion would be to seriously consider using one of those infant seats you can take out of the base with the handle because there is nothing worse than waking a sleeping baby! I used to not like those because I didn't like how some women seemed to carry their babies around like a purse but I got one anyways and it really was very useful even though I think you can only use them until they are 4 or 6 months?
I actually have one with two bases that obviously has never been in an accident and is only 2 years old that you are more than welcome to borrow if you want :)

We broke down and bought the Britax Decathlon for Eman's truck since we already had a Britax Marathon for my car... I figured I'd save $$ in the long run since Baby Eman grew out of his infant seat right around 4 months. It was $238 and I didn't pay tax and got free shipping by ordering it online. I ordered it from www.babynteendepot.com They have some Marathons on there now for $229.99. You just can't be picky about the pattern if you want to save some money.

I still have the infant car seat that came with our travel system so i'm okay there. You are right about them growning out of the infant seats in jsut a few months so that is why i want to be prepared with the larger one. That combined with the fact that i will mostly likely fly at least once, i want to be sure i have a seat that is AFA (?) approved.

Most if not all (I would say ****all*** but then there is the very slight risk I would have to eat my words) convertables are faa approved. It is just the booster seats and the britax to 80 pounds seats that aren't, both of which don't work rearfacing. I woudl get at seat that goes past 40 pounds so fisher price safe voyage convertible http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2001&e=thumb&ppage=1&ppagesize=6&pcat=bgstr&selCat=bgstr&ccat=bgstr&ctype=article&site=us (55 pounds) Britax Decathlon/Boulevard™/Marathon (http://www.britaxusa.net/products/search.aspx) (65), sunshine radian (http://www.sunshinekidsjp.com/Pages/radian.html)
yeah, lisa is right. Most carseats are FAA approved. The Regent is the britax that isn't (it's ginormous anyways and a lot of people have trouble fitting it in small-medium sized vehicles)
We have the britax marathon and love it.
Love the Boulevard too, but Berndan didn't like the side impact panels b/c they blocked his vision

well Myah has been used to her seat since she was a wee baby so she has a certain preference if you will. The new baby won't necasarily know the diference ykwim so just because Myah (she is 2 after all;)) doesn't dig the seat doesn't mean it won't work for the baby:thumb .
true. I'd concentrate more on what is the safest and will fit the best in your vehicle

that is one thing i'm afraid of...
If my in laws were to spend and get us the Britax, I'm afraid it wont fit in Victor's little car. I swear I hate that little toyota!

Yeah they are pretty big... We have the Decathlon in Eman's (regular cab) truck and with the 3 of us in there... it's a REAL squish. I'm sure the back seat of your Accord won't be much different... Sorry. That probably doesn't make you feel any better...

you may want to call a car seat tech and get a reccomendation as I didn't fully realize you were still going to attempt fitting all the kids in one row of seats. You might have to get two new (narrow) seats for Kayla to even be able to ride in the back. FWIW, A marathon (former name of the decatholon) will fit on the sides in a 98 accord as that is what fil has. You can take the seats out to the car to even see if they will work. This is going to be your biggest limitation I think.
