I bought Emanuels grandma 2 gift cards for Walgreen's- One of which they activated... the other apparently they did not. I can't find my receipt (I don't even think I saved it because why would I... Right??!! I mean it's a freaking gift card!)
What should I do? I'm SO annoyed and if I can't find the receipt I'm out the $$ and so is grandma. Good news is I did pay with a debit card- so maybe they could trace it somehow through that??
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think I'm so annoyed I can't really even think!

What a PITA! In this day and age of computers you would *think* they could keep track of how many were purchased and activated on a given day. I mean, the card would decrease their inventory which they have to keep track of for accounting purposes so I bet they could fix it....if they wanted to make the effort or had the knowledge on how to do it. I think they can trace the purchase with your debit card but not what you bought although that would depend on how high tech they are. I would defintely talk to the head manager, not just the shift surpervisor if they give you any trouble and it is much more difficult to say no to someone in person than over the phone not to mention if you look like a mommy with baby E in tow you look less likely to be running a scam :)
contact your bank and ask for a copy of the transaction. and i'd talk to a manager.
My brother sent EVERYONEgift cards like 3 years ago for Quaker Steak and Lube, and we had gotten dinner, eaten and went to pay and the card was never activated. We just told them what was supposed to be on it and they honored it. Now i'm paranoid and i always ask them to check my card before we order.

Well the thing is with these stupid Walgreen's cards... They come in $20 increments.......... and they are RIGHT by the counter. So it's like someone could just steal one and say it wasn't activated... KWIM
The only thing that I can think of is to tell them all the things that I bought (roll of wrapping paper, a little stuffed bear for the Baby's stocking I made- and the 2 gift cards) which totaled out to be $43.76 according to the transaction history of my bank account.
Geez I am SO pissed.

thats tough because like you said what's to stop someone from picking up 2 cards and only paying for one. You'd think scanning the card to purchase it would have activated it if the amount was preset, is the other oner per change double loaded?? or maybe that is how they messed up, scanning the one card, entering quantity 2 (like you do often when you buy multiple quanties of the same thing) not knowing/thinking it would leave the other card unactivated but just activating the other twice not upping the gift to $40.
That totally sucks though. They should believe you though if there is any way to even sort of track it since in the grand scheme it isn't worth "loosing" $20, even if you were lying, if they loose you as a customer over this.

I think you would be able to dispute this through your bank if nothing else, since you did pay for something that you didn't receive and that is fraud. Have you talked to a manager at Walgreen's? I would start there and if you can't get anywhere, then I would let the manager know that you will be filing a fraud complaint with your bank and ask to not honor the charge on your account.

I would suggest that you take a bank statment either from online or your monthly statement that reflects the charge in with the blank card. If they do not honor it, then dipute the charge with your bank.
Each month I put all my personal receipts into an envelope, and all my biz receipts into another. I label them for example: Personal Receipts December 2006. Then on the first of the next month I seal it and file it. I keep these for a year, unless I have a warrantee on an item then I file the receipt into a file with all my paperwork for that item. I have slacked off lately though, I hope to get back on track for the new year! :newyearsday
I do this because you just never know. Also, because I am the person who quite often buys the item that is defective or missing parts, lol! :irked
Good luck, I hope everything works out! :fingerscrossed

and (like I always suggest) contact BBB!! You'd be *shocked* at how quickly they jump to resolve issues when they are brought out by the BBB. They pride themselves in being a part of the BBB and having unresolved comlpaints can lose them their affiliation ;)
