I have absolutely HATED my hair since I got pregnant - it got all fragile and started breaking super easily... Leaving me with spikey re-growth all over my head. After I had Baby E I am left with friggin' bald spots from all the hair loss- which I am blaming on BFing and the associated hormonal fluctuations.

For all of you who feel my pain........................ HOW LONG DOES THIS LAST?!!

I *USED* to have beautiful hair and I want it back. :mecry

my hair didn't get more fragile but I LOSE enough enough hair a week to make a small animal! :lol It's beyond ridiculous! It's just the hormones and the BFng.

When I was prego with Salina my hair was fabulous and never fell out like everyone says. With Alaina it thinned terribly, not any bald spots but I was frying the top of my head anytime I went into the sun over the summer. I dunno if it is growing back really or I have just gotten used to it but I remember in high school it was thick I could hardly get a pony to wrap around more than twice and it definitely isn't like that now :(

My hair is totally dry and falls out so much we have to clean the shower drain before we give the kids a bath. I am not BF tho, so I am not sure if this is normal, or if I am having thyroid issues like I suspect.

Check out this article, and when you get to the end of the page click on next to read the rest. I found it interesting:

http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/herbsvitaminsek/a/Alopecia.htm

Also, if you go to Oliver's Market in Cotati in the suppliment section near the registers, they have a wonderful book where you can look up health issues and find an entire page on natural treatment options using diet and supplimentation.

Good luck!

My hair grew like crazy when I was pregnant and for a couple of months afterward. After I was done pumping breast milk, it fell out like crazy and was really thin on top. It has never thickened up like it was but it's better now. I hated it when I was getting regrowth. My hair stylist recommended Noxinil (I don't think I'm spelling that right) shampoo but I never used it.

My hair didnt changed much while I was pregnant, after I gave birth it grew like crazy so Im very happy about that, I was having a hard time letting it grow before I was pregnant. Got some gray hair though but magic highlights work very good :) and fixed the problem. :thumb

I've considered getting Nioxin since I could get it at cost from my MILs salon... but they use some nasty chemicals in that. I used it once and it turned my scalp bright red for hours and it totally stinks!

I wonder if it would get into your milk too?

Dunno- I used it before I was pregnant though when I was at my MILs house... It was the spray on treatment and I thought it was detangler :bag I guess I should have read the bottle!

My hair is falling out in clumps and it's been 15 months since I had Ryan and 3 months since I stopped BF'ing.
I have this row of new growth in the front that is driving me nuts. It has come in thin and curly, not a good look.
I can get a hair tie around my pony tail 3 times that is how thin it is.
My hair grows super slow so I'm in it for the long haul before it actually starts to look normal again. I'm seriously just ready to shave it all off and start over again

My hair grew beautifully during pregnancy, shiny and strong and once I had Brianna it all fell out. I seriously thought I was going to be bald! Now it's thinner but not too bad. What buggs me the most is all the baby hair around my hairline. When I put my hair back I still have all this friz that makes me look like a crazy woman. I'm using like 50 bobby pins to slick it back and I even cut bangs for the first time in years to try to cover the fuzz. AND it's all grey!!

When Makayla was 3 months old I started to lose all my hair. By the time I got done with my shower it looked like there was a dead rat by the drain. Now my hair is bugging me because the new hair growth is to short to tie back yet, so it is getting in my eyes. I also BF Makayla.

I don't really know exactly how long it takes your hair to recover as I had two babies back to back....

but for me, pregnancy made my hair grow like crazy. I have awesome hair while pregnant, actually. It's a touch on the greasier side but other than that, it's fabulous. One of the perks! But after birth...it falls out like crazy, to the tune of bald spots. Now it's growing back and I have all these little hairs that stick up where my hair fell out. Annoying. I guess it will be another six or so months before my hair is back to normal? But by then I'll probably be pregnant again! :lol

That's what happened to me starting when Erica was about three months old. It didn't start growing back until she was like 7 or so months, too.

has your hair got thicker? Generally pg is a time of "growth" followed by a time of "death" some time afterwards. I think it can be a slow or a sudden all at once death so how noticable it gets varies. I know I had it pretty bad with J but I don't recall it being horrible with Ash or Ben.

i really dont know...i have always had very thick hair so couldnt tell you if it has gotten thicker or not. To top it off i cut all my hair off right before the last time i was at your house so that is another thing that would keep me from really knowing if i have thicker hair or not.

now that i think of it, i so need another hair cut. I should use some of my dad's money and go get a hair cut before the baby comes :)
