I'm DVRing NBC and CNN's broadcasts.
That's good to know I might need some tissue. :)

Very sad:(

Why are the grown ups let the kids chew gum during the memorial??? So disrepecfull IMO!........I don't know, maybe I am too conservative;)

sometimes it's a choice between chewing gum and hearing a child ask every 2.37 seconds "can we go now? I'm BORED! I wanna go... lalalalalala" ... and the gum wins... :dunno

I cried today!!!! It is so sad for such a true legend to be gone at such a young age. He was amazing and no one will ever come close to him as an entertainer. So so so sad. RIP MJ.....

I honestly would HAVE to give Taiven gum in order for him to be quiet in a situation like that, it is actually recommended by his doctor to use gum in situations where he needs to be quiet. He even wanted me to ask his school if it would be allowe for him to do to help his talking issues at school (but I opeted out knowing he tends to play with it and may be more distracted without me sitting there reminding him not to play with his gum) Not knowing if the kids you saw suffer from any issues that would make it helpful for them to have their mouth occupied by gum instead of talking, but you can't see it by just looking at most kids...not trying to be rude or anything, just putting it out there for the other side of the story so to speak...

My intention was not to come across rude or insensitive so I apologized if I upset someone here ;)

Dude, don't even sweat it, To quote Willy Wonka, "Chewing gum is really gross. Chewing gum, I hate the most." But at the same time I know how hard it is to get a kid to sit still for just five seconds more as well.

DH and I were talking about it all day today. I didn't think something like this would be upsetting, after all I never met him or even knew him personally but he is someone I grew up listening too and really enjoying his music. Its like a part of my childhood died and today all those memories came flooding back. I totally agree with what you said Debbie. I am still in disbelief that he died so young

I caught a special tonight that covered it and totally got me in tears when his daughter went up...poor thing

I didn't think you came off as rude, I was just throwing it out there that the gum may have been used to help the kids be quiet...I didn't see the coverage :) no need to apologize :)

I watched it last night (I had DVR'd it on CNN and NBC). Lets just say I am going to work this morning with very puffy eyelids. RIP MJ! I have always loved you and never strayed from being a total admirer of yours! You will always be the greatest entertainer to me, with the most incredible voice, and the most incredible dance moves.

I watched the recap this morning on the news...I was at WIC yesterday and so I miss the main event.

Brooke Shields and MJ's daughter brought tears to my eyes. Both had VERY heartfelt and emotional things to say.

:yeah Only I haven't watched the NBC version yet.
I think it was a bad idea to watch it just before going to bed. All night I had dreams of his songs and his dancing, etc....

I cried a little at the end when his brothers wheeled him away. It's sad that he died, but it also brings up memories of "my" family members that have passed on who I miss dearly.

I don't have TV so I didn't watch the memorial... I am on deadline so I haven't looked anything up online yet just to be in the loop of what everyone is talking about... I have never been Jackson's biggest fan...

but even I had MJ make an appearance in my dreams last night! :shake
