So, our garage door had an issue this morning and I need to find someone to fix the automatic opener. Anyone use someone for this before? There are several people in the phone book that do this kind of repair but I hate to use a repair service that I've never heard of before!
Thanks, Megan

we used one guy... I don't even remember the name.... when we first bought our house b/c the people who lived here before never used the garage as a garage. He wasn't the best. Other than that, we've used Costco but that wasn't for repair. We bought a new door and opener from them shortly after we bought the house and the old opener died! :( I'll see if I can find the name of the one guy we used so you don't use him. Not sure that's helpful in the way you were looking for :lol

I called R&S Erection (why would you ever name your compnay ERECTION?????) and they are coming out tomorrow. Hopefully the tech that comes out will be better than the lady that answered the phone. After I gave our address as Santa Rosa, she is muttering something about Healdsburg and when I said it was Santa Rosa, she was a little confused. So we'll see if they show up tomorrow!

LOL! Nice name!
The only company we ever used was when one of the springs broke but it was still under the 1 year house warrenty that came when we bought the house and the warrenty company picked them out. I don't think it is a terribly high tech device though so hopefully it will be a no brainer for the tech :)

I posted to my other mom's group too and the mom that responded said that we should definitely not try to repair this ourselves... she had a friend's husband who didn't want to pay the $80 and cut some wire and something bounced back, hit him in the eye socket, knocked him on his but and he has had 3 surgeries to fix his face. Yikes! And Scott was dragging me out to the garage at 7:30 this morning, from a sound sleep, yacking about jacking up the door or something. MEN! If you're not a mechanical repair guy, call one that is!!

Oh no, I wouldn't try it myself because the thing that broke on ours was one of the big springs so the door came crashing down! I'm just saying the mechanism shouldn't be too hard to fix if you know how to keep things from flying or crashing.
