I have seen and heard lots of folks use these for the kids for long trips. I would love some feed back and recommendations from those of you who have had experience with these.
We have a mini van and so it would need to entertain at min the 2 little ones but better if it could work for all 3. I have seen some with the monitor attached to the head rest but I really can't afford to spend a ton of money either. I am just trying to find a way to keep the whining to a min.
TIA :thumb
We have the one that looks like a laptop and it works OK. The only problem is you have to sit it on the arm rest in the front and it gets in the way of being able to rest your arm. Plus it moves around and falls if you go fast or turn quickly. If you can, get the double one that attaches to the headrests. That way each of the middle girls gets their own view and the back row can see either one (hopefully).

at christmas time target had the dual monitor ones for $88... unfortunately he had to take off the headrests for our car seats to install properly so we had to take it back. You might see if there is a used one on CL or something???

i am considering putting the two youngest in the last row so there is no headrest issue and the carseats not fitting right. I will have to check out target. I thought they cost something like 200 bucks or more

I think the ones we were looking at are normally like $150ish. The $88 was a black friday w/e sale.

I say go for the double screen too. I'd let you borrow ours, but my friend hasn't given it back from her trip. I also have a single one that was 69 bucks which works for 1 kid obviously. I don't think they are really expensive anymore and the quality is pretty good because of demand. Totally worth it I'd say!

We have the kind that attach to the heat rests and it works great. They're Audiovox, we got them at Target over two years ago for I think around $120. We had them on the back of the driver/front passenger seats on the way to So. Cal last week, and the kids plus MIL and SIL in the back were able to see them fine (though MIL and SIL weren't restricted by carseats and could adjust their bodies as needed to see, that could be an issue for the little ones). You can probably get them even cheaper now.

We got ours, a Colby, at Toys R Us three years ago for 57 bucks. We love it, it attaches to the back of the headrest and has worked really well for us. You want to make sure that you get one that has the swivel so that you can put it flat againest the seat. Some don't and it makes it really awkward.

We just bought one for taking T up to OR a couple weeks ago. We got the single monitor for like $120, but they had dual monitor ones also for something like $190 (at Sears). They sell these little backpack like things to put them in and you can strap them to the headrest or between the head rests so it sits in the middle. If you don't have headrests on the middle seats though that might not work for you. We found it to work great for T. Best $120 I ever spent :giggle
