I want to get my two girls a gift from the baby but i dont have any ideas. I had planned on buying them each a new baby doll but over the holiday's they each got one from other family members.
When Myah was born i remember buying her playdough and someother thing that she was into at the time as a gift from her baby sister Myah so i want to the same again...
Do you have any ideas?

Before Tyler arrived, we got Patty a basket and filled it with things for 'the big sister from her new little brother'. We put blocks, paints, books, Elmo things, and a few big sister books.
Is their something that your girls are into? A book series or art activites?
Hope this helps...

Hmmmm... maybe some special art supplies or gift cards for something that you could do one on one with them in a couple of months... for some special mom and daughter bonding time. Even if it just to get an ice cream or maybe see a special move.

I don't know, I can't remember if I got Salina anything? :bag I do know I made Brian get ME a present! LOL!
Maybe accessories for the dolls? Like cribs, blankets, bottles, outfits? Kate and Megan's ideas of activity related stuff is good too, it would keep them busy while you are busy with the new little one.

We didn't really get Sevannah anything from "the baby" b/c we didn't know the gender of the baby. once Jazper arrived my parents took her shopping that day to pick out a present for her new baby brother. That seems to help... making her feel important. Then the day after he was born , after his first pediatrician appt (since we did early discharge from the hosp) we went to Target to get a few things for him and let Sevannah pick out some toys for herself.

I am getting the girls something, not from the baby but they will not be "left out" ;) Our boys got goodie bags this time around. A new toothbrush, some playdoh, a couple candies I think and a few other trinkety things. Stuff to help occupy them when I might not have been able to.

I have nieces about your girls ages and I know that for Destiny (8yo) she likes girly stuff that makes her feel pretty - like jewelry and hair things you can p/u at Claire's... As for my niece Teya (3yo) she's really into PJs and movies. I got her a ballerina movie (she just started dance lessons) and my sister says she's watched it so many times that she (my sis) already wants to hide it! I got it at TRUs.

Maybe make so many pretend coupons out of construction paper and make them into a book for each one of your girls. Each coupon could say something different like: Help Mommy change Baby X(since we don't know name yet) diaper, or help Mom with Baby X bath, or pick out Baby X clothes, etc....
I know its not what you asked for for ideas on what to give the girls, but it may help them not feel so left out and included in the daily baby activities.
I will keep thinking of more ideas.

Becky: if you wanted to do some jewelry for Kayla let me know. Cookie Lee has a Little Girls line and I have a few other items that would be age appropriate for her but make her feel "important, pretty and grown up".
Not sure what do for my Myah. I know Sevannah likes to play with the jewelry and one of the necklaces and two bracelets but she won't leave them on yet. Maybe get Myah a new movie she doesn't have for one of her favorite characters?

hum....kayla is always asking for jewelry....I'm going to have to check out your stuff. That would be something that would definately "talk" her as something special. Maybe this time she wont loose it because it will be something special.

Becky - in the RP Target today, I saw this really cute lap desk that came with some art supplies but could be used for just about anything... playing with playdough, drawing, eating, small puzzles. Thought it might be an idea for Myah. I can't remember exactly how much it was but I think it was $20-25.

When my daughter was born we had a gift ready and packed it into my hospital suitcase. We gave it to my son the day she was born from her. It was just a toy he had been wanting. But it was a good way for him to bond with her. he was only 3 at the time.
Once my youngest nephew was born, I carried Big Brother/Sister Photo T-Shirts, and made him one. He loved it. It had a photo of the big brother/sister and big words saying I am the big brother/sister. You can get a couple of T-shirts of your choosing, and get a package of transfers and create something. I know you are creative enough to pull it off! There are some Big sister shirts online, it has been a while since I looked, so you will have to google them if interested. They just don't have the child's photo on them. You could also do it after baby arrives and put a photo of the new baby on the shirt. Either way works. Good luck!

becky: let me know when you want to get together to look at the jewelry. I'll come to your place so you don't have to go anywhere... unless you want to. I'll let you know when I am no longer sick (I want to keep my yuckie to myself) and we'll figure it out if that's something you want to do.

Hi Becky,
We've never met but I do enjoy all your posts.I appreiciate how you 'put yourself out there' on this site.
If your oldest likes jewelry alot, and she likes to also make it...i'd consider looking on Oriental Trading Company and buying her a bunch of pretty glass beads so she can make her own. I'm not a beader, but it looks like they have some good prices on beads...and they have more than just glass (I personally love the different glass styles/colors). Also, OTC has a 'teacher supply' category where you can purchase wooden puzzles, etc,so maybe you can find something for Myah.
Shipping from OTC can be expensive, but if you find some other moms who want to order then you can do one order and split shipping costs.

Thanks :) I have met so many ladies here on this site that i consider them my freinds so in many ways this is just an outlet for me to talk to everyone at once. To be honest, i think i would be lost and lonely without SCM especially since i'm on here everyday. Of course its much easier having a job where i work at home and i live on the computer so it makes accessing SCM that much easier.
Hopefully i will get to meet you sometime soon.

Costco has a cute kit during the holidays. It is a roll out box full of beads and other neclace & braclet making materials. $20.
