View Full Version : How can Sugar Free Candy be a laxative? becky 08-01-2009, 12:52 PM My step dad bought these sugar free life saver hard candies to chomp on at work when he got stressed. They didn't settle well with him and he thought he was just special like that. Well miss shelsea found the candies and went nuts. After just having a couple she ended up having the same result as her Papi. Same thing happened to Myah and Kayla too. Your small intestine doesn't absorb sugar alcohol the way it does regular sugar does and too much of it has a laxative effect. Better known as... OH, NO! (Hope there's a bathroom close by!) From http://www.olean.com/ It doesn't "break down" when subjected to high temperatures so it can be used in cooking and frying.
