View Full Version : Half Empty, or Half Full? Sara 08-05-2009, 09:05 AM Are you an optimist or a pessimist? (poll to follow) Sara 08-05-2009, 09:11 AM I would say I am optimistic, grounded, but with eternal optimism tendencies :giggle I tend to think everything will be fine, until I know for sure it won't. surmick 08-05-2009, 09:38 AM I prefer to think good thoughts because it usually does not help to think bad ones. But I am prepared for the worst at the same time. I call it my "Pollyanna Doomsday" approach. Leigh 08-05-2009, 09:49 AM I would say I am optimistic, grounded, but with eternal optimism tendencies :giggle I tend to think everything will be fine, until I know for sure it won't. :yeah Me too! HAHAHA that's a good way to describe it. On the flip side, I think DH is very pessimisic. He tends to think everything will be craptastic, until he knows for sure it's not. (And even then he is suspicious, waiting for the other shoe to drop. :shake) . erin anne 08-05-2009, 09:50 AM I put "other"....depends on the time of the month. surmick 08-05-2009, 09:52 AM I put "other"....depends on the time of the month. For me it's how close to payday. :giggle Sara 08-05-2009, 10:09 AM :yeah Me too! HAHAHA that's a good way to describe it. On the flip side, I think DH is very pessimisic. He tends to think everything will be craptastic, until he knows for sure it's not. (And even then he is suspicious, waiting for the other shoe to drop. :shake) . Urgh, John is the same way! I send him out of the house when he is being all doom and gloom, I just can't handle those negative vibes. Yin and yang I guess :D L and F's Momma 08-05-2009, 10:52 AM For the most part, I TRY to be optimistic but today I am feeling fairly pessimistic. :( surmick 08-05-2009, 11:52 AM For the most part, I TRY to be optimistic but today I am feeling fairly pessimistic. :( I always feel that way before guests come to visit. I promise once they are here, it will only get worse.... :giggle...ok that was mean, I am sure it will get 100% better. :) :tongue L and F's Momma 08-05-2009, 12:30 PM Here's to hoping! :giggle CrystalD 08-05-2009, 12:34 PM I voted more optimistic but grounded. I don't like being in a bad mood or thinking of the worst. I try to see the bright side. My hubby is much worse than me, he has eternal optimism and thinks that if you think you will have a bad day, most likely you will but if you change your thoughts then you won't. wyattsmama 08-05-2009, 12:53 PM i generally am an optimist. i try not to worry about things unless there is a real reason too. however, i am realisti about things at the same time. i tend to overthink things and look at all possible outcomes of a situation and do my best to avoid anything that i think could in turn lead to something negative. momtoM&D 08-05-2009, 12:59 PM I'm pretty pessimistic, I always feel like everything is such a struggle. Maritza 08-05-2009, 01:00 PM I think I am very optimistic:) MamaLaura 08-05-2009, 01:40 PM More pessimistic, but grounded. PhreSpirit 08-05-2009, 01:50 PM i voted for the more optimistic, but grounded. for the most part, i really believe in the whole "everything happens for a reason" mubo jumbo - so i try to look at everything as a learning experience. meeg124 08-05-2009, 03:04 PM I'm a realist. I know I'm going to have to wash the damn glass no how full or empty it is :D surmick 08-05-2009, 04:10 PM I'm a realist. I know I'm going to have to wash the damn glass no how full or empty it is :D :rofl howardvm 08-05-2009, 04:16 PM I'm more of a pessimist. DH says I always dwell on the negative and think that the negative will happen. I call him a smurf. He is very much "la la la la la la, la la la la la". jellybeanmichelle 08-05-2009, 04:29 PM I'm a realist. I know I'm going to have to wash the damn glass no how full or empty it is :D :giggle I see it both ways. It's half full and it's half empty. colleen_22205 08-05-2009, 04:38 PM ms. pessimistic is my middle name :giggle between that and my sarcasm i am pretty synical (?) ktjo17 08-05-2009, 05:26 PM I voted other because it really depends on my mood and dh. I tend to try and pull him out of his pessimism and bring him down to reality when he's being too optimistic about a situation. Luckylove 08-05-2009, 05:52 PM I guess I'm more of a pessimist? I tend to assume bad things are going to happen but at the same time I know that no matter what we are strong enough that we will pull through. I guess a pessimist but a fighter at the same time LOL. Lynette 08-05-2009, 06:19 PM I put optimistic but grounded although I tend to think of myself as a realist who is a big believer in self-responsibility when it comes to making your life into what it is. stephscrazy05 08-05-2009, 06:54 PM i tend to be both. depending on the situation i jump to the worst possibilities and other times very positive. depends on whats going on in my life lovesthebaby 08-05-2009, 07:46 PM I'm very optimistic, sometimes too much so and DH is a pessimist. becky 08-06-2009, 03:14 AM I'm very optimistic, sometimes too much so and DH is a pessimist.:yeah and it drives my DH crazy. I hate it when things are bad and it gets me down so i try really hard to look at things positively. At times its difficult to see the bright side of things when life is throwing us a bunch of stinky crap :lol but I am getting better at it though. I am not taking the bad things to personal but rather try and figure out how to make a bad situation good. It doesn't always work but a girl has gotta try. ;) Drey 08-06-2009, 02:15 PM Sometimes it depends on the way of the wk. Def more cheery when im not prego, sick or on my period!!! General optimistic but grounded. brookiesmom 08-06-2009, 02:52 PM I'm optimistic but grounded dh is pessimistic for the most part so someones gotta keep the positive thoughts coming : ) But really I think good thoughts and prayers will help everything else not be so bad and work it self out eventually. Lorah 08-07-2009, 08:00 AM I chose other. I am a realist. I look at my situation, look at my surroundings, look at my abilities to deal with said situation and surroundings, and then make a judgment call on it's potential outcome. Sometimes people call me optimistic, some pessimistic, but really, the reasons I do what I do and say what I say come after a realistic look at the big picture, serious contemplation, and then ultimate decision or idea. Marni183 08-11-2009, 03:32 PM I'd love to pretend and say that I was more optimistic, because I'd like to be, but truth of the matter is, I'm most likely pessimistic and grounded. |
