I just booked a Celebrating Adoption session for October and I need to find a nice location that showcases the beautiful fall colors. The family is coming up from Fremont so they can get the whole North Bay Area feel. I know its a bit early but I want to start thinking about possible locations and am looking for idea. Any ideas?

There is a vineyard out hwy 12 near the Kenwood Inn (I think that's the name) where the vines turn the most beautiful burgundy you have ever seen. You'd have to check it out. I can't remember who owns them, but when I was working in Sonoma there were people out all the time painting them.

:bump
Just thought I bump this up again since its getting closer to the actual fall seasonal colors and i am sure the other photogs here would like the help too :)
I have a session every weekend this oct and into nov, all requesting fall colors so I would like to see what is in season right now and maybe shoot each session someplace new so if you have any tips please share. I am going to go location scouting today for this weekend so if i find anything i will share as well.

:yeah The wineries out here are just starting to change. The winery across the street from me hasn't harvested their grapes yet. The leaves are 99% green. But the farther South you go, some have already harvested and the vines you can totally tell are turning the browns and orange.
There should be some areas to where the trees are turning colors.
Our driveway is covered with brown and orange leaves. It was made even worse by the crazy wind we've been having.
Anyone want some pinecones? :giggle

If you happen to notice any of the vines turning burgundy please let me know. I was hired to take some fall photos for a clients livingroom as a piece of art so I wanted to get some nice rolling hills :)

I keep meaning to tell you....
Silverado Winery and Charles Krug along Hwy 29 have some good vines that have turned already.
The other ones in between are slowly getting there.
I won't name names since this is public, but the one across from me hasn't picked their grapes yet as of yesterday. They had their fans going to dry out the moisture in the air to prevent mold.

Thanks for the update. I have been itching to go over there to go check it out. :) Don't you just love the loud noise those fans make? They used to terrify me as a child

I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought maybe a plane or something.
Now if it was the fan that is just outside our bedroom, I would have known.

they sure get load huh? When I was little they used to scare me so bad. We had a huge vineyard just a block behind our house and they were so so loud. I remember I wrote a story/book at it in the 1st grade too

What about the cheese factory (http://www.marinfrenchcheese.com/ComeVisit/Overview.aspx) in Marin/Sonoma? It's way out D street from Petaluma.
Don't know about the fall colors out there but it sure is a pretty spot
I was just driving back from Guerneville today and there was this one patch of vineyards that caught my eye on River Rd. Im not sure what winery its attached to but the colors are amazing and would be perfect for photos. If you are driving on River Rd going west towards forestville the vineyards would be on your left after the big hill and on the long stretch (the only place you can pass).
