I'm sorry but no video game contraption is worth my life. The kids will live without it. Now they have to live without their mother. Not a smart decision on her part. I feel sorry for the kids but I have a hard time having sympathy for someone who makes unintelligent decisions like that. Drinking TONS of any liquid and not allowing your body to get rid of it is harmful.

i don't think people (as a whole) are well educated on the hazards of extreme water consumption. They think that water is harmless, and that's so untrue

That is horrible- but they all should have known better... especially since a few years ago that one boy died up at Humboldt State from the same thing during hell week. Granted his circumstances were far worse (like sleeping in a basement that had backed up with sewage when it was nearly freezing outside) but still the ultimate cause of his death was water intoxication. The frat boys that we're in on it all went to jail...

I don't understand the radio station, or contestants for that matter... that lady went home because she was dying. Her headache was a sign she was o/ding... :( something as simple as pedialyte every couple bottles may have been the difference between life and death! (not that the contest was not hugely STUpid to begin with!!!)

10 people including the 3 DJ's were fired and now because of the sheriff getting ahold of the transcript of the show they are looking into homicide charges.

I was sad when I intially read the article becasue I falsley assumed no one was aware of the dangers but apparently they had tons and tons of people calling and telling them it was dangerous (in theory) and ***dangerous*** (listening to the contest and the lady complaining of a headache) I cannot believe how blatently flippant they were KNOWING it was dangerous. Shit I might "feel responsible" had I known about the contest and not drove down there and warned the entrants personally. Stupid is one thing, putting SOMEONE ELSES life on the line becasue you think it is "no big deal" IMFGoodness!!! I mean they told her 'oh nothing is wrong, you would throw up before anything bad happened and implying her head was supposed to hurt and poo pooing her complaint'!?!!?@^(&*@%!%@!!!! I mean okay save face take her off air quietly (and I don't even agree with that but devils "advocate") but call the f'ing paramedics to check her out.

OMG! That's horrible! I hope they go thru with the homicide charges. I don't understand how anyone could be that flippant and detached from "killing" someone b/c that effectively what they were doing. :shake

That's the problem though is that people think drinking a lot of water is no big deal because it is, well, water. Really really dumb. Those poor kids :(

I heard about that transcript on the news too. I don't see why homicide charges shouldn't be brought up- that's what they did when the frat boy died of the same thing and now those boys are in prison- same place that these radio personalities should be!

The whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach.
