So last night at 1 am Amelia started throwing up and she has not stopped. Pretty much as soon as something goes in, it comes out. She is fine otherwise. Even screaming at Dora and Boots right now to tell them to take the Verde road.
So I keep giving her water and breast milk as long as she wants it and I just gave her some cold french fries because she turned down the crackers and toast.
Also, she just had two runny diapers as well. Anything I am forgetting? She probably just had a bug so at some point she will stop throwing up but until then I have about 10 loads of laundry, lovely.
I also tried to give her some flat ginger ale but she does not want that either. Just agua.

Yeah, this is the first time that she has been sick for more than a runny nose or an upset stomach that only lasted for a couple of hours.
I have decided that you can never have too many clean sheets or towels.

You are doing fine, you might even just stick to breast milk because she is probably really thirsty so she might try to chug the water too fast which could make her throw up again. Alaina was really sick like that at 14mo and she ended up just nursing and not wanting food for like a week. Just kind of follow her lead and I hope she is better soon!

Do she have a fever? Were you out and about yesterday in the heat much... She could have sun poisioning, of course best course of action is always hydration/getting electrolytes back to normal.

I think I would just stick to breastmilk until she goes at least 8 hours without puking. Once she is over that and if she still has runny poop, try a BRAT diet.
Hope she is better soon. :hug

You might also try the pedialyte freezer pops for the electrolytes. She'll eat them slow since they are frozen and since it's really hot it would feel good.

I would check for fever, and dehydration, and other than that I'd just do the breastmilk until it had been 8 or more hours since last vomiting.
Mav got the NoroVirus when he was 13 months old. It was AWFUL! Expecially since we got it too. But I just nursed him to keep him hydrated, and he stopped throwing up after about 20 hours. :(
:hug
Don't hesitate to call an advice nurse at any hospital (most will take your call no questions asked), or your Dr. office, or if you have kaiser, then obviously them.
:hug I hope she is better soon!

My advice is call it quits on the cold frech fries until she stops barfing for a few hours ;)
I wrote it on facebook, but what I do is wait 20 mins until after the barf and give 1 teaspoon water. After another 15-20 mins of no barf, another teaspoon. An ice cube or pedialyte cube would also be good since it's so hot. Keep giving her very small amounts every 15-20 mins until she's keeping it down. You could give a small amount of juice, too. My thinking is that it does no good to force a bunch of liquids if they come right back up. After she's gone a while keeping down the fluids, give some bland, easy to digest foods like toast or crackers or dry cereal. No fruit that could be too acidic.
Wait it out, keep doing laundry, keep the towels close, and thank goodness she seems to be feeling okay between the puking episodes! Hope it passes quickly.

she is warm to the touch right now, but can't tell what is a fever and what is just hot weather. Gave her a cool bath and she is taking it easy in front of the fan.

I gave her a regular popsicle and she went to town on it. If she starts to seem dehydrated though I will go get the pedialtye ones.

I have hidden her waters and sticking to the boob for now. I just hate it when they have dry heaves though. That is so not something I enjoy and it scares her. It seems it is not so hard on her when she has something in her stomach to get rid of.
No throw up for the last 2 hours so it is looking good. I will keep you posted!!!

Lisa, she was at her air conditioned daycare all day yesterday so I still think it was probably a bug she picked up there. I need to go tell my neighbor... :(

I'm glad she is on the mend :D
me too!! She is outside painting the picnic table with water, completely naked. She is a happy child once again.
Would it be too soon to give her table food? I was going to make broccoli, tomato salad, grilled pork chops and bread tonight. She would probably only eat a little pork a slice of bread and some broccoli, oh and some cheese. :) She is not big on the tomatoes.

Poor Amelia and poor you. :( "My" Amelia had a week of what you're describing a few months ago. I called the doctor several times, but they told me to just keep up the liquids and a BRAT diet.

Well, she had one more episode last night and then went to bed. She has had plenty of Breast milk and I just gave her water. She had a slight temp (99) last night but none this morning... :fingerscrossed
I hope I don't jinx this.
Try giving her Pediasure if you havent. I hope she feels better soon!

She was good when I left this morning. Since she did not have a fever and she had been puke free for two days we took her to daycare. The doctor told us that she would not be contagious any longer. I told her daycare what had happened and to let me know if anything worsened. I have not heard from them, so I am assuming everything is okay. We will see tonight!
Thanks for checking on us!!!
