View Full Version : Guess who is having baby number 19?? Sara 09-01-2009, 08:41 AM Yup, the Duggars are expecting another baby who will be an aunt/uncle before it is born. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20301647,00.html Sharon 09-01-2009, 08:48 AM Wow. surmick 09-01-2009, 09:04 AM i still think that her Uterus is like a super uterus. They should do a show just on it. Amazing, crazy but amazing. Lynette 09-01-2009, 09:16 AM Super Uterus, away! :lol lornabrown 09-01-2009, 09:19 AM Yuck IMO Maritza 09-01-2009, 09:26 AM Yeah, I saw the news this morning...:tmi I also want more than 14 kids, have a TV show, be in all the magazines and news in order to pay all my bills, have a nice house and not worry or stress about money everyday...:cabbagepatch brookiesmom 09-01-2009, 09:30 AM Seriously they are a little much I think. I mean great if you want a big family but really 19 kids a little nuts! Jackie1021 09-01-2009, 09:31 AM Yeah i just read that article. I can't believe their having another one. That's amazing though. Debbie_P 09-01-2009, 09:56 AM How does her uterus not just fall out of her....seriously! surmick 09-01-2009, 09:57 AM How does her uterus not just fall out of her....seriously! Thank you!!! My3sonsplus1 09-01-2009, 10:04 AM No joking aside I really am surprised that her uterus has not gone kaput and/or that all her kids seem to have been born w/o defects/handicaps. She really is a statics miracle. surmick 09-01-2009, 10:16 AM I am not joking, She has the super uterus. Most people at this point would have not been able to stand any more C sections or labors. She is 42 now, so things are not going to bounce back and the chances of having a child with severe disabilities is high. Lorah 09-01-2009, 10:36 AM Good lord! Here I am after two kids with prolapse...and she is just going strong! Even with C-sections too! How the heck does her body not just fall apart ...literally!? PhreSpirit 09-01-2009, 10:39 AM super uterus and all aside - does this woman ever take a break from being pregnant!?! surmick 09-01-2009, 10:45 AM I think she did between June 1997 and January 1998. My3sonsplus1 09-01-2009, 10:50 AM I am not joking, She has the super uterus. Most people at this point would have not been able to stand any more C sections or labors. She is 42 now, so things are not going to bounce back and the chances of having a child with severe disabilities is high. She bounced back at 41 (after 18 kids, I am not sure how but she did) she may just "bounce back" after this one too. Really she just defies all odds. She should have a placenta previa if nothing else by now because surely every millimeter of her uterus has already had a placenta attached to it at some point. I can't imagine my body being able to handle participating in sex this early in the game let alone another back to back pregnancy after so many kiddos... when do they find the time anyhow... Colleen&Kail 09-01-2009, 01:07 PM ugh. i dont like it ladybish 09-01-2009, 01:20 PM wow - I agree, a statistical miracle in every sense. TaivensMama 09-01-2009, 01:54 PM I always think of how amazing it is that none of them have any major health issues as well...I hope she doesn't "play with fire" for too long as she ages the likelihood of it happening is greater...I mean to each his/her own and every baby is a blessing, but being cautious about her age and pregnancies is going to have to come into play at some point...or I guess she will let nature decide when she can call it quits... I just hope she continues to have healthy kids in the meantime.... Debbie 09-01-2009, 02:58 PM :shake L and F's Momma 09-01-2009, 03:05 PM UGH..... I can't imagine. Drey 09-01-2009, 03:15 PM Flippin crazy! Having that many kids should be illegal. Sara 09-01-2009, 03:44 PM What about the risks for her? The docs said she is very healthy, but even now women die from birth complications and what would happen if she did? 19 kids with no mother? surmick 09-01-2009, 05:35 PM What about the risks for her? The docs said she is very healthy, but even now women die from birth complications and what would happen if she did? 19 kids with no mother? well, from what I get from the show, the kids run the house pretty well. I know that nothing replaces a mother but the kids cook, clean and teach for each other. They would probably do better than most. Lynette 09-01-2009, 05:49 PM I dunno, I have been watching the show for the last couple months and the kids all seem to be happy and healthy which is more than I can say about most of kids we hear about in the news. I'm not a religious person at all, but if they are being true to their religious beliefs by "going forth and multiply" than I respect that they are walking their talk too. Now the Octomom, that is a whole other story :rolleyes stephscrazy05 09-01-2009, 05:52 PM wow...thats all i can i say is wow... Brookepanda 09-01-2009, 06:41 PM I dunno, I have been watching the show for the last couple months and the kids all seem to be happy and healthy which is more than I can say about most of kids we hear about in the news. I'm not a religious person at all, but if they are being true to their religious beliefs by "going forth and multiply" than I respect that they are walking their talk too. Now the Octomom, that is a whole other story :rolleyes I agree with you Lynette... I personally think that 19 kids is way too many because really, how much time and attention can you provide for each child and I don't agree with their practice of making an older child responsible for a younger one. But these kids seem happy and grounded and I've said this before but I doubt we'll ever read about any of them robbing a gas station or something like that. They do seem to stick true to their beliefs and while they aren't my beliefs, good for them for doing that. I know you never really know what happens in their household but I admire Michelle Duggar as a mom... she never seems flustered or overwhelmed and I would love to be that mom that NEVER raises her voice. Of course, I do wonder if she takes a handful of Xanax everyday to be that way :giggle Stacey 09-01-2009, 07:18 PM I dunno, I have been watching the show for the last couple months and the kids all seem to be happy and healthy which is more than I can say about most of kids we hear about in the news. However, that doesn't make this (http://holycrapthatsfunny.com/2008/04/30/hctf-psa/)any less funny! OMG, this picture was taken at only 13 kids! Add SIX more kids to this picture!!! :faint tggrr2 09-01-2009, 07:30 PM No thanks Lynette 09-01-2009, 07:42 PM I know you never really know what happens in their household but I admire Michelle Duggar as a mom... she never seems flustered or overwhelmed and I would love to be that mom that NEVER raises her voice. Yeah, I have to admit I have had my WWMD (What Would Michelle Do) moments when Alaina is making me nuts :D MamaLaura 09-01-2009, 07:46 PM I always think of how amazing it is that none of them have any major health issues as well...I hope she doesn't "play with fire" for too long as she ages the likelihood of it happening is greater...I mean to each his/her own and every baby is a blessing, but being cautious about her age and pregnancies is going to have to come into play at some point...or I guess she will let nature decide when she can call it quits... Of course, I do wonder if she takes a handful of Xanax everyday to be that way :giggle :yeah Adriana 09-01-2009, 09:38 PM She's very fortunate to have been given so many healthy children . . . they seem like they all do a good job taking care of each other. 19 is really too many for me to imagine . . . sometimes 2 feels like what I imagine 5 to be so I really can't imagine 19. But everytime I watch that show I am amazed at how organized they are and that everyone seems to get along fairly well. I agree she must be some sort of medical miracle. becky 09-02-2009, 02:13 AM i just can't believe she is still "able" to have children this late in the game. i would have thought for sure she would have been going through menopause by now momtoM&D 09-02-2009, 07:28 AM i just can't believe she is still "able" to have children this late in the game. i would have thought for sure she would have been going through menopause by now Well, she's only 42. My mom is 49 and just starting. Brookepanda 09-02-2009, 08:17 AM Well, she's only 42. My mom is 49 and just starting. :yeah It's a bit early for that... jellybeanmichelle 09-02-2009, 10:07 AM I can't help it, but to think, when she's 82-83 years old this 19th kid would be 42-43 years old. They are not the only family with 18 kids. There is one with 17 that they just added more space to that family's house for. TaivensMama 09-02-2009, 11:20 AM yah 42 is super young for menopause, the "average" age to start is actually 51 or 52, so she could have a LOT more babies before then...and I am sure she will... MamaLaura 09-02-2009, 11:31 AM My fear for her is that they'll start "producing" children with medical problems. It really is a numbers game, I think. And with (soon to be) 19 kids, unfortunately I think it's only a matter of time before their "luck" runs out in that regard. I obviously know from personal experience that it's not the end of the world, and that it doesn't change how much you love your child, but with so many other children to care for I'm not sure how easy it would be, or if the child would get enough of what it would need. It would be difficult, I would imagine, for a family that large to adapt and accommodate a child with special needs. Whether it's autism, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome, etc. Being completely honest and risking sound like a horrible person, I do sometimes roll my eyes at their luck. So many people can't have even one child, or their one and only child dies of SIDS or has a severe disability. Or some families have three kids, all special needs. But the Duggars can have almost 19 kids now with no apparent problems? As horrible as it sounds, it doesn't seem fair. I would never WISH that on them and I'm glad for them that they haven't had such problems. But it doesn't always seem fair to me. I also worry about what would happen to the family if one of the parents were to pass away. Michelle could die during child birth, or even in a car accident. Jim Bob could also die unexpectedly. Clearly, people die all the time. A family with one child could just as easily lose a parent as the Duggars, or even a larger family (which I'm sure exists somewhere in the world). But 19 children left with one parent would be very rough. If dad were to die, would they know how to run things to keep themselves financial stable and continue to be debt free? If mom were to pass, would the older girls truly be able to do everything they already do for the rest of the family, in addition to taking over mom's duties? And then I wonder... Michelle's body obviously has no problems handling all of this. The pregnancies, the labors and births, the breastfeeding, having a baby to care for nearly everyday of your life and WHILE doing the other things a lot of the time. But if they do continue to reproduce until it's physically impossible anymore, which seems to be what they're choosing, I wonder if she'll get to a point where while her body can handle most of it, it won't be able to completely and maybe her mental state won't be up to par either. Cooking and homeschooling and cleaning... It's a lot when you're doing it for a family of 21 (including parents). I hope she never has a problem handling her responsibilities, and that if that time does ever come, that her family will continue to be as helpful and supportive as they seem to be. I'll stop now... Waaaaaay too much rambling lol. Leigh 09-02-2009, 04:02 PM Laura, I like the way you think. . Maritza 09-02-2009, 04:14 PM Laura, I like the way you think. . :yeah me too;) Leigh 09-02-2009, 04:25 PM BTW, I can't help but think of this scene from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. What they don't show in this clip is the scene leading/feeding into the song.... . stephscrazy05 09-02-2009, 04:35 PM laura, i was thinking the same things you were... also I always watch the show and see how clean it is... I have one and my house always looks like a bomb blew up, and thats BEFORE nap time! how is it always clean??? uhhh... Marisas mommy 09-02-2009, 11:11 PM Could you imagine being pregnant 760 weeks of your life that is basically 15 years, I could hardly make it the 40 weeks! I read an article a few months ago where she said that after the first or second child she got pg while on the pill and miscarried, and they felt guilty and decided at that point not to mess with God's plan and let whatever happened happen. I really try to respect that, but the world is so overpopulated you'd think they could at least try the rhythm method or condoms or something! Yeah, they speak at churches about that experience as part of their witnessing for their beliefs. |
