If this woman was in and out of psych hospitals so much, why did she still have custody of her kids? If she told her social worker she was going to harm her children and the social worker didn't do anything, why isn't the social worker being tried as an accessory to the crime? All I can think of how frightened those boys must have been and how the world let them down. I need to go give my son some loves now.

i think her mom told the social worker that she was going to do something - but none the less that social worker should lose his/her job. that's all they are paid to do is check to be sure that someone is doing okay/isn't getting hurt... and s/he TOTALLY failed on this one.

I would have thought since she said she planned to hurt the children the social worker would be fully responsible to check on them!!! I will never understand how a mother can harm her child.

Me neither- but I think she should've gotten 1st degree murder. Having told people that she was going to hurt them proves malice aforethought.

I agree that she probably "plain ol crazy" however, I think it does matter what charge she was convicted of because she'll probably be out of jail in a few years and have more kids!

And not to start a "religion" debate... but where in the Bible does it say killing your kids is the will of God?!?!?!?! That's the part I never get in ALL cases like this. These people claim to have had "God" come to them saying that they need to kill their children in his name but I don't recall ever reading that part of the bible. Did I miss something?????

Whether you're crazy or not it's not okay to kill anyone... especially your kids. And if you have ever made a threat of any kind then someone else needs to be held accountable too... like in this case the social worker &/or the woman's family.

I've always thoguht they should get rid of "innocent by reason of insanity" and replace it with "guilty by reason of insanity". Just because you're crazy doesn't make that person any less dead.

Well, there is the story of Isaac where as an ultimate act of faith God tells him to sacrifice his only son to him and right as he was going to stab him God told him to stop and sent a ram to him to be sacrificed instead.

BUT....of course, crazy is crazy, you just can't make any sense of it...
