This is an email that I got through my mothers group. Even though it's short notice, I thought it was something that you ladies might be interested in.
Hi Everyone,
This Tuesday, January 23rd the Santa Rosa City Council is holding a public forum to determine budget priorities. CMNB is asking the City to make the museum a budget priority. Not necessarily for immediate funding but to include the museum in its long term planning. CMNB could use the support of as many people as possible to show that we support a discovery museum in our community. Anyone that would like to support the museum is welcome to come to the meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd at 5:00 pm. And it’s okay to bring your kids. The more people in the audience supporting the cause the better. CMNB has been told by City Management that CMNB should have a presence at the meeting to show how much the community wants this type of venue. Four CMNB representatives will be getting up to speak about the museum while the rest of us cheer them on. Specifically, the speakers will address the following issues at the meeting:
ASK FOR THEIR SUPPORT AS THEY LOOK AT
CREATING A VITAL DOWNTOWN AS PART OF THEIR VISIONING. TALK ABOUT MAKING
DOWNTOWN A PLACE FOR FAMILIES AND KIDS AS WELL AS NIGHTLIFE AND
TOURISTS. TALK ABOUT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IMPORTANCE OF A DOWNTOWN MUSEUM. GET IT ON THEIR RADAR BECAUSE IT IS NOT RIGHT NOW. ASK THEM TO HAVE YOU AT THE TABLE AS THEY CONSIDER WHAT TO DO WITH THE CITY HALL SITE AND BRINING A PERFORMING ARTS CENTER DOWNTOWN.
I know many of us long for a dynamic downtown that supports families. Specifically, many of us long for a quality discovery museum to take our kids and out of town guests. Marin, San Francisco and Santa Clara counties all have one. ; ;It would be nice to keep our dollars and cars here.
If you would like to join us Tuesday at City Council either just show up or feel free to contact me by e-mail or phone, 338-3412 to coordinate.
This is an opportunity to make a big difference for our kids in Sonoma County. Please support this effort!
