I wonder if she wasn't wearing a seat belt and he was, or if he was just so full of alcohol that it provided some sort of protection (numb to his injuries, counteracted with adreneline to keep him from going into shock???) to the effects of the crash if you will. How very sad :( Why does it seem that the perpetrators are the ones that come out fine and the innocent parties are the ones that suffer???

:(

A lot of times it seems that the drunk is the one to survive.... maybe it's a bit of a punishment because they'll have to live with that forever. And I think the victim sees the accident coming so their whole body tenses up which makes the impact worse... and the drunk just flops around and absorbs the impact better.

i'm sure she was wearing a seatbelt.

like becky said we saw this last night...it was horrific. i have never seen a car so completely smashed. her car was just ruined, and the entire top had been completely cut away (to get her out, i'm sure).
i think the guy was actually pretty lucky too. his car was ruined also, but somehow it was just the entire passengers side. the drives side looked like it was barely touched, which, after reading what had happened makes sense that only that side was hurt.

...nick and i are both definitely freaked out about it and it's scary to think that it could have been us had we left the restaurant a little sooner. it's definitely a reality check that things out there do happen whether you're being comepletely safe or not.

yes some crashes are unsurvivable no matter if you are doing all the "right" things on your part :(.

ugh scary. I was headed northbound just about when this happened. I get the shivers just thinking about it.
