Okay, I want to start getting some ACTUAL OUTINGS together for SCM.
But idont' want them to be in like SF or Oakland... I want it to be somewhere were people will actually be able to go with us on a regular basis.
I'm thinking maybe 1-2x per month we go somewhere cool...
I'm thinking kids museums, waterparks, etc etc etc.
I dont' know what is in the area like that though. :(
I know of the Charlie Brown Museum... which might be fun, but it wouldn't work with too many really young kids.
Throw some ideas out there and I'll get a calendar together.

There aren't any kid's museums or waterparks in this area. We'll see how long Hannah will let me type LOL

A lot of these could double for "rainy day" activities:

Santa Rosa: toddler storytime @ library, MyGym, Playdate with Gail, Pump It Up, Kid's Party Central, CPI kindergym, Funky Monkey, numerous parks like Howarth Park, fire station tour, pet stores, baby day @ movie theatre, farmer's market
Sebastopol: Kidspot, kindergym
Rohnert Park: tubetown (closed currently), Chuck E Cheese
Cotati: Pump it up

Hannah is crying now :(

Hope that helps,
Beth

If we could do a fire station tour, I would pull Caden out of school for that. He loves fire trucks!

I think the one across the street from Finley are the ones that come when my house calls them. When Asher jammed his finger in the paper sensor of the paper shredder (nowhere near the blades!) and I thought it wasn't coming out a few of the same guys that came after Ben was born came to our "aid" (he'd gotten his finger out before they arrived) and then when Asher was wheezy... it's kinda fun to show them the little boy that is all grown up that they drove to the hospital when he was 15 minutes old (not that they remember him :))

I believe the Firestation in Cotati gives tours too.
What about Mrs. Grossman's sticker factory? I've always wanted to tour their place.

I also remembered about La Tortilla factory in Santa Rosa. I think they give tours sometimes. In Sonoma, there's traintown which is supposed to be fun.

I haven't done much venturing outside of Sonoma County in terms of "field trip" time things so I am very eager to find some folks to do it with. Just a thought..

I've always wanted to take the kids down to train Town in Sonoma. We have yet to get there yet. My Grandmaparents used to live not far from there and when we would come to visit, I remember going to train town.

I'm so happy to read there's lots of fun things to do here, I was starting to think that I was going to be really bored with Julian for the next 4 yrs that we're staying in the area lol .:thumb

Maribel: I was thinking the same thing. Back in Dallas there are hundreds upon hundreds of water parks, kids areas, kids museums, zoos, arboretums, etc, etc, etc.

There is also the Pacific Coast Air Museum. I haven't read the specifics yet, but I think on the weekends they let you crawl into the air craft. I know my button pushing, plane loving boy will love this.

okay so this is along the lines of the Pacific Coast Air Museum... If we wanted to make a day trip out of it my parents own an Aircraft Maintenance Shop. I could set it up with them so that the kids could walk all around the shop, get tours of planes (whole and in pieces) and even maybe work it out to have some rides if someone wanted to go flying.

It takes an hour to drive to the shop (it's in Angwin). And there's picnic benches so we coudl take lunch with us.

Another thought that direction... Old Faithful Geiser. That would be more of a spring/summer thing though. I haven't been since I was a kid.

Anna - I would love to take both of my boys on a trip like that!

I know where Angwin is. 4-H Summer Camp used to(or may still be)held out there every summer. I went every summer from age 9-18.

okay then! I'll talk with my dad and see when would be a good time for him. I know as far as day of the week a friday is typically best. And we'll have to wait for a nice sunny day... but I'll get working on it for us! ;)
