View Full Version : Do you watch TV? Sara 12-03-2009, 10:23 PM Poll to follow... juliansmom 12-03-2009, 10:41 PM i could almost respond that I don't watch anything on tv but we do watch like 6 DVD's a year. I occasionally watch hulu and the occasional news story on youtube. Stacey 12-03-2009, 10:52 PM We don't have cable but we have dvd's, Netflix, and Netflix streaming to our tv via a Roku player. Lynette 12-03-2009, 11:25 PM TV has a negative stigma attached to it so that in the past I was leery to actually admit to liking it but you know, I figure there are worse things out there. So yeah, I love TV and I'm proud! :D Maritza 12-03-2009, 11:34 PM I agree with Lynette about the negative stigma. I don't know, I guess it dependes on what are you watching? I love tv and I enjoy waching a good show, movie, news, or something on the Food network or HGTV! becky 12-04-2009, 12:17 AM :yeah to Maritza and Lynette We tried to go without it for a while but ended up getting satellite later. I am not much of a prime tv watcher though but there are some shows that I "have to" watch weekly L and F's Momma 12-04-2009, 12:28 AM I watch movies mostly but I loooove Dexter, Top Chef and the Food Network. Oh yeah... and basketball. lornabrown 12-04-2009, 12:58 AM I watch way too much TV. My kids and dh too. About 3 hours a day for me but I multi-task for 2 of those hours. I can see the TV from the kitchen. My husband watches about 2 hours per night and is a complete potato the whole time. The kids watch about an hour on the weekday and more on the weekends. Probably more info than everyone needs howardvm 12-04-2009, 05:45 AM We watch TV a lot. The family room is always on Nick Jr. In our room is where we watch our shows like The Office, Grey's, etc. Brookepanda 12-04-2009, 07:43 AM Like Venessa....our tele is constantly on some sort of kid channel...a lot of the times it's one of the 3258965423 episodes of Caillou we have on the DVR :rolleyes For *me* I love the office, as well as Modern Family DH watches my shows but also watches Dexter and some other show I don't recall the name of because I never got into it....but Dexter is a good show....it pulled me in....but I *can* carry on living if I don't watch it :giggle momtoM&D 12-04-2009, 08:18 AM I have I think 9 shows that I watch regularly right now, and then I'll watch HGTV or something sometimes if I'm bored. But soon Amazing Race will be over, and Flash Forward will be gone till March, so it will be going down. I hate non sweeps months! Lynette 12-04-2009, 08:52 AM I :love Dexter, that's my fav! ktjo17 12-04-2009, 09:05 AM I used to watch a ton of TV, but we had to get rid of our dish. Now we watch movies and have Netflix. Sometimes I miss it, but my parents live next door so we will go over there sometimes to watch TV. khanson 12-04-2009, 09:18 AM I generally dvr the shows I really want to watch and sometimes I'll actually get to sit down and watch something else. Those times are few and far between right now. I'm at least 3 wks behind on Greys and other shows. It *is* nice to fast forward through the commercials though so I don't mind too much :) MamaLaura 12-04-2009, 09:29 AM I have a few shows that I watch... But most are the kind that play all the time (20/20 on WE, Secret Lives of Women, etc) so while I only watch a handful of things, I'm watching a lot of them. Right now I probably have 10 episodes of 20/20 on the DVR right now, some Dateline, one episode of Secret Lives, and so on. I watch 2-3 hours of TV a day. Which equals 3-4 episodes, taking into account FFing through commercials and such. Doesn't bother me that I watch so much. What else am I supposed to do after Kaylyn has gone to bed? It's TV or internet, or a book. I go through phases where I do one for a few weeks then switch to another. Right now, I'm on a TV kick. After living with my parents for a month and a half, it's nice to have free access to a TV and pick what I want to watch. Kaylyn watches oodles of TV when we're home. If we're home and she's awake, it's on. She lives for Barney and Caillou on On Demand these days. I throw in something else here and there too, like Yo Gabba Gabba or Sesame Street. I don't like that she watches so much, but I do like that she is truly taking away some information from them. And she doesn't just sit like a lump on a log. I sit with her and we talk about what's going on on the show, and she does get up a lot to do other things, or plays while watching. mommanat 12-04-2009, 10:12 AM I have a few shows I DVR and watch once everyone is in bed, that's about all I have time for these days. TaivensMama 12-04-2009, 10:14 AM we watch various kid shows or educational DVD's and I have a few shows I like (grey's private practice, flash forward, medium) I at times catch up on some shows on abc.com (like modern family) when Im bored...in the daytime if I am bored and want to veg and the kids are playing or sleeping i watch the baby stories or bringing home baby on TLC, in the evening when bored I either watch something I DVR'd or tlc or food network....we have netflixs but are really lame about returning and getting new movies hehe Michelle28 12-04-2009, 10:15 AM I'm a TV addict and watch WAY too much TV...it is always on in our house and it was always on in my house as a child. I don't know how to not watch TV. I get hooked on shows...love reality TV like Amazing Race, So You think You Can Dance, Top Chef, and Project Runway, but am loving the new drama The Good Wife right now along with my usuals CSI Las VEGAS and MIAMI, Law & Order SVU, Monk (tonight is the season finale :( ) So ya, i'm an addict!! :) Theresa 12-04-2009, 10:38 AM It's always on at my house too--sometimes both tv's. I'm only a Thurs night watcher. I turned on Private Practice last night--that's a great show! brookiesmom 12-04-2009, 04:38 PM We always have the tv on at our house. Usually its kids shows for the most part through out the day and part of the evening when I have my stepson but we dvr our regular shows and watch those once the baby is sleeping. And I have my trashy reality mtv vh1 stuff I have to watch lol! Kellie_MO5 12-04-2009, 05:31 PM I picked that I watch some online.. though we also watch dvd's ... a lot... lol.. but no cable/satellite here desiree.nielsen 12-04-2009, 08:38 PM I've been without cable most my adult life, then I worked at a developmental home a couple of years ago and got addicted to a couple shows the guys there watched but I can catch up on those on hulu every once and while. stephaniemsw 12-04-2009, 08:45 PM We have never paid for TV since we got married 8 years ago. We do have Netflix and watch several shows through the DVD's or on-line. The only *current* show we watch is Heroes. Some nights I don't watch anything, some nights up to 3 shows. Depends on if I have to work (for work or just to keep the damn house running!). Like Lorna, I am a multitasker. I rarely just sit and watch. I am usually e-mailing, folding laundry, paying bills, etc. Sequoia is allowed to watch one or two shows in the morning while we get ready for the day, but other than that we only watch when the kids are asleep. Oh- we don't even actually *own* a television. We watch online from our computers, or we have projector that we use for DVD's. Leigh 12-04-2009, 10:42 PM We don't have cable but we have dvd's, Netflix, and Netflix streaming to our tv via a Roku player. Ditto! . erin anne 12-05-2009, 01:03 AM Does a bear s*&# in the woods? :tongue Drey 12-07-2009, 04:03 PM Im guilty! I have certain shows I watch religiously but besides that Im a Netflix girl. Elle only watches her nighty nighty show before bed and sid the science kid before school. floridamom 12-07-2009, 09:35 PM I was way more addicted a year ago, but these days I am really busy with this thing called facebook.....;) The only TV in our house right now is in our Master Bedroom so it has cut our TV watching to a fraction of what it was. We maybe watch a few shows off the DVR before bed, but we are a lot more selective these days. Lorah 12-08-2009, 01:27 PM We don't have cable, but we have broadcast networks. We watch 3 shows during the week. House, Lie to Me, & Bones on the TV. I watch Greys and Private Practice online, and Travis watches Heros online too. We have been renting Dexter! LOVE IT! surmick 12-08-2009, 06:45 PM We have three TVs and two of our computers run cable through them. We are always watching something. ClaireD 12-14-2009, 10:04 AM I am an addict. We tried for a few days to get rid of cable but I just could not do it. I wish I could. |
