Does your child have an object they just have to have? A fuzzy blanket or stuffed animal they can't get to seep without? Or many animals they have to say good night to every night?

I'm assuming "other" could be binky? That's a definite for Jacks :o)

I put yes, one - but it is a baby, and she has a few that fit the bill. I could have also put other - because of the ever-present binky!

I forgot to make it multiple choice for those of us with more than one kid :)

Jacob has a blankie that he has to have around. It really helps when he has difficulty controlling his emotions (like this morning). Mia has many objects, but nothing she has to have.

yes, wyatt has 1...or 12...

eta: i forgot to share what he must have. his absolute must haves that also get drug around everywhere are the sheet from his bed, the thomas blanket from his bed and his thomas pillow. the things that he simply needs to sleep are those items plus:
a llama stuffed animal
his baby tad
a large stuffed crocodile
every single train he owns (and sometimes his matchbox cars as well)
his llama llama books
his goodnight moon book

it's a zoo in his bed

Yes, Emma has her paci that she has to have and her blankie. She also sleeps with other animals too, but those are the 2 that she has to have.

I don't understand why, but Natalie doesn't have one! I fully assumed she would because it's what kids do... but nope!

Maybe for a few days until the "newness" wears off. Then it's off to another toy or doll.
But she doesn't carry it every place she goes.

nope... Al used to have this thing with needing something silky or tulle (like a fancy dress.. the stuff that I find ever so itchy) but she grew out of that last year, I belive

Morgan goes back and forth....He has Elmo and Bear who he likes to sleep with, but he understands that sometimes they need a bath (and sometimes it takes a week or so before Mommy remembers to give them a bath, so they are hidden for a bit. :bag). He also has a blanket that he likes to have in bed and lately he asks for it when I put him down (if it's not in his crib). He likes to take them all (1 at a time, or all together) when he goes downstairs, or to the car, etc. Thank goodness he (usually) understands that he needs to leave them in the car when he goes to daycare... He then gets SO excited to see them in the car when I pick him up. :giggle

Sequoia has a train blanket. It was the only one we had big enough to swaddle her in and she slept swaddles until 10 or 11 months old. So she had it every nap and night of her life since about 12 weeks old. She still sleeps with it, snuggles it while we read books, and drags it around all morning, but I limit it to upstairs.

Sparrow has a bunny and a blanket (actually she wiill accept just about any small receiving blanket). I used to hold it while we read books and then put it in her crib with her and now she holds it before she goes to sleep and sometimes wakes up at night looking for it. It is so cute!

I really encouraged a lovey thinking it would help people sleep better. Not sure what effect it has had.

I said "other." Neither have ever had one item that they've just HAD to have, but they have gone through phases where a certain stuffed animal or blanket is what they have wanted to sleep with. They've never been so attached that they just couldn't sleep with something else instead. Dorian needed a pacifier to go to sleep until he was about 8 months, but while he had a cold he couldn't breathe with it in, and once he was better he didn't want it anymore. Melody couldn't sleep without my boob in her mouth till she was almost 18 months. :rolleyes

It's a total phase thing with Caty. She's into one lovey for awhile then switches it up.

Alexis has a blanket that she had since she came home from the hospital. It now covers a horse at the bottom of her bed. lol

She has her one Kiki - a pink floral baby blanket from Target, I believe. It has several holes, and several old holes that have been sewn up. It's so dingy from being dragged everywhere, though we clean it all the time. She does have a backup from the ever so lovely Brooke, but it's mostly our emergency Kiki and what we use when Kiki has to be washed. Don't wanna ruin it for when original Kiki bites the dust. But anywho, she must have it with her. It goes to school with her, to the beach, the park, the store, etc. Can't live without it. Right now it's sitting with her on the couch while she watches Cat in the Hat and eats a PB&J.

She also has a maroonish burgundy that she calls "purple Kiki" that she has to sleep with, but doesn't drag around. It mostly stays in her bed, except when it goes to Brian's and back.

Lastly, she has a baby. It's a cheap Lee Middleton doll from Bears, Buddies, and Toys. Her first real baby doll. We took the clothes off back when she got it, right around her first birthday, to wash them. When I went to put them back on she had a mini-meltdown and wouldn't let me. Baby has been naked ever since. Dingy like the pink Kiki. It goes a lot of places with her... Not as much as Kiki, but still quite a bit.

So I put other because she has her 3 items, but not all of them are like, the must have soothing lovey. Only 1 of those, 1 semi, and 1 that's more important to her routine than it is to her.

Ben has a blanket that used to be a twin size and it now about the size of a wash cloth...he calls it this "thread blanky" because he likes to pull it apart and leave the threads everywhere. He used to take it with him everywhere but now he is only allowed to have it in his bed because Charlie gets a hold of the threads and puts them in his mouth. He also sucks his thumb and I think he's going to need some serious dental work because of it.

Henry had a paci and one of those blankets with a super soft side and a silky side and we used to drag them both around everywhere. We finally made him get rid of the paci a couple of months ago and since then he doesn't need his blanket either. His blanket is still on his bed but he doesn't have to have it.

Charlie sucks his pointer finger and his middle finger upside down. It actually looks really hard to do but he seems to manage okay.

Skye used to have her gabba dolls but now it's this Dolly she named "Isa" or "eeesabellll" in a spanish accent haha she has her all day long and MUST have her in bed, it is great leverage though because I am able to say stop xyz or i will have to take Isa away and she shapes right up!

Sawyer has a baby pretty much because Skye has one, I dressed it in a little preemie outfit from when he was a baby and he tries to act like he cares as much as Skye cares about hers but I am sure he would still go to sleep if he didn't have his "baby dolly" I think he just likes to throw it out of his crib in the morning like Skye does so they can both yell for me to come rescue their babies, sawyer says "uh oh baby" over and over till i get him haha

Taiven used to require his thomas trains, now he likes to read before bed, but does not require a lovie hehe

The girls do/did if you count the pacifier. Myah has a pink blanket that she has to have on her bed but that is easily traded for another one. it just depends on her mood.

Hannah's lovie is my pillowcase. She used to pull my pillow all over the house when she was a baby/toddler and I got tired of that, so I pulled my pillowcase off of the pillow, gave it to her, and she hasn't separated with it since.

Amelia has a warm fuzzy blanket that she cannot bear to be without.

I put many.... Liam has a few stuffed animals that he interchanges depending on the day... Cool Bear, Bear-on Davis, and this Lion he has named SHARK.
Fiona has to have her "cold pillow" which is a raggedy old throw pillow that she's slept with since she was 1 1/2 (don't know why she likes it so much!), Foofa, Pink cow, and her pink star blankie.

V used to do this all the time! I guess that was her lovie. I don't really consider fingers a lovie cause it's part of the body, but if it helps them settle. :dunno
I know Caty did this as well, only opposite hand from V.
Coming from a thumb sucker as a kid, I thought my child was weird, until I saw Caty doing it.
V's 2 fingers are shaped a little different because of that.

Both my kids do. Both picked them when they were older.

maverick's is a blue blanket he calls his "blue buh". Noelle's is a pink blanket, it's actually the same one I had as a baby, and since she doens't talk she just grunts for it.

Both kids need them to go to sleep.

Alyssa has a teddy bear that we call 'B' and Aaron hasn't picked one yet, unless you count his pacifier, which he can never be without

Ava has two stuffed dolls I made her. Ethan has one stuffed doll and an elmo doll but he isn't as attached as Ava is.

Ava has a Winnie The Pooh bear and a Giraffe names Gigi that she has been sleeping with since she was born. She also has a pink and brown blanket that she likes, but when we travel, she doesn't care. She can nap or sleep without them, but she sleeps through the night better with them. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, she will roll over, grab Pooh or Gigi or her blanket and usually fall back to sleep. So they are nice to have.
