Little Ali's sick :(

So I just got back from the ER a few min ago (well, actually from walgreens getting a rx) but little AliCat has pneumonia :( Dr said it's probably bacterial and not viral (can they tell that without a blood test? because they didn't do one) and that it's prob not contagious, but we're staying home for a while anyways... poor little babe.. she's been acting fine, just had a cough (that's been going around, I assumed) but got really bad chest pain tonight so I took her in at 10:30 ... the waiting room was packed but we were taken right back and were out of there by 11:30 (with x-rays and everything done) ... LOVE Memorial! But yeah, little AliGator is sick :(

I never let them assume anything. I demand blood tests/any and all diagnosing tools if I hear a "probably" or "most likely". Not to bring up a scary/sad thing, but when Lucas had his bacterial meningitis there was a teenage boy from SR who also had it. They assumed it was viral, and basically sent him on his way. By the time they knew it was bacterial it was too late and he ended up dying. I think if you're going to assume anything, you assume it's the worst so you can treat it as such, until you know definitively what it is.

I hope she gets better fast! When I go to the ER I always call my brother first because he knows people so I usually get in faster.

still sick... she says she's feeling a little good.. still hurts to breath and now her back is hurting... I called the dr on call at Sutter and she said to just beware of light sensitivity, neck pain, headache and vomiting, and that she'll tell the peds dr to give me a call tomorrow to set up an appt, which would be easier and probably get in sooner than me calling the dr office... so we shall see! MIL is watching the kids tomorrow morning, as I have a meeting with Es teacher before school (she did NOT want to reschedule, and even offered to come over to the house if it would be easier for me) so yeah... MIL is freaking out about it, though, which is fun.. a call every 10 min "How is she? I would take her back in just so she can be monitored 24 hours. This is not good!" gee.. ya think? LOL Hopefully I'll be able to get her in tomorrow and figure out what to do and how long she should stay out of school...

right now she's on Zithromax (antibiotic) and tylenol for pain (which she says doesn't help :()

it went well... she's still congested in her chest, but only a tiny bit in the lower lung (a sign of pneumonia)... her chest still hurts a little, but nothing like it was... she said she *could* go back to school on tuesday, but she could probably use a bit more rest, so I had the dr write a note excusing her for the week ( shes still very tired and not her normal high strung self yet... I cant see her being able to participate fully, and she'd get better more quickly with more rest, imo) and I'm still just keeping an eye on her... no headaches, neck pain or fever, so keeping my fingers crossed...
