reading the last part of the article is a scary thought regarding c-sections being twice the cost of a vaginal birth. And after refusing elective induction until after 41 weeks reduced complications.. As in the business of being born showed, a lot of unneeded interventions or rushing things along instead of letting nature do it's thing whenever possible (as obviously shown in the movie as well, that when a true emergency arises there is a need for c-sections) is causing a lot of complications. pretty scary stuff!

We saw this on the news last night, I was shocked by the chart - deaths have doubled since 1993 and we thought medicine was ADVANCING. The medical community definitely needs to rethink their policies regarding c-sections.

I believe it. I think c-section/interventions are way out of hand. Labor is meddled with far too much as a whole. While my c-section was no if ands or buts medically nessasary for baby and my survival (complete placenta previa, I would have hemmoraged to death had I tried a vaginal delivery with this last kiddo) I was still rather worried going in, and I still lost "too much" blood despite it being planned in advance. And the recovery was/is awful! Both physically and emotionally.

I just saw The Business of Being Born and it was crazy reading and learning about why this is happening. Everyone should see that documentary!
