In honor of Mother's Day coming up, how often do you pamper yourself? What do you do to escape or treat yourself? Could be anything from getting a pedicure to taking a long bath alone :D

Could be anything from getting a pedicure to taking a long bath alone :D surmick 04-27-2010, 12:11 PM My idea of pampering is usually buying Amelia something. I rarely do anything for me. I do like pedicures though.... :) My3sonsplus1 04-27-2010, 12:24 PM What is this "pamper" thing you speak of? I honestly cannot remember the last time I pampered myself. Two friends took me out for lunch and to Ikea a few weeks before I had Caleb, it was nice to have a few hours of completely child free time. lasmiley11 04-27-2010, 12:44 PM Well if you consider a long shower "pampering" myself then it is daily. But, I rarely get to go out alone and enjoy myself. I asked my husband to take me to get a pedicure and manicure for mothers day, which I have never ever gotten. :) tdonoho 04-27-2010, 01:24 PM I try to get a pedicure at least every month. I used to get my nails done every couple of weeks but I gave up that habit, too expensive and too time consuming. It became a chore instead of being enjoyable. I try to get a massage a few times a year. I've been hinting to dh that I'd like one for Mother's Day. My back is killing me this pregnancy. When we only 1 or 2 kids I used to get to have a day to myself every couple of months. I'd go shopping or to the movies, etc. Now with three kids and multiple sporting events, club meetings, etc, it usually takes both of us to divide and conquer on the weekends so there isn't as much free time for Mommy. Trish Brookepanda 04-27-2010, 01:36 PM I get a pedicure every three weeks....and I get my hair cut/colored every 6 to 8 weeks....occasionally I'll get a massage....maybe twice a year or so....I pampered myself today with a pair of new shoes (that i really didn't need...but they were too cute not to get!):giggle Maritza 04-27-2010, 01:52 PM Pedis and Manis don't work for me. A good massage or a facial, will, though. My idea of papering is going on a trip and visit family and/or friends when I "escape" :D so I guess few times a year when I travel:) Lorah 04-27-2010, 03:20 PM Sadly, I use to rarely to never do anything to pamper myself, but in the last ..year? I have not done anything. I rarely get a shower alone....and if I do it's rushed while calling to the other room to make sure the kids are okay. That and we don't have money for me to go out or do anything. We now really live a super structured, super tight budgeted super freaking routine life day to day. Seriously, from the second the kids get up at 6:15am, until they go to bed at 7:30pm....everything seems to happen at the same times....it's good for the kids, but it gets so boring for me, and makes it hard to do anything for me even if we could afford it, or I had energy for it. But I love my husband, and I love my kids... By the day's end I am so tired from the same routine I just fall into bed. Is going to bed and getting 3 hours of sleep considered pampering? brookiesmom 04-27-2010, 03:45 PM A massage sounds so nice maybe I'll ask Jeremy for that for mothers day! meeg124 04-27-2010, 06:25 PM I get a pedicure every couple of months. I try and go scrapbooking every couple of months, just to have some me time. Lynette 04-27-2010, 07:07 PM I dunno, I had a pedi for the first time in years about a month ago and had a facial around the same time for the first time ever so I guess I am not much of a self-pamperer. lornabrown 04-27-2010, 07:17 PM I get a facial and brows done once a month. Just tried spray tanning for the first time. I also get my hair colored and cut every 6 weeks and pedicures when needed. Luckily I trade lots so it's not really money out of pocket for all of it. The facial feels like pampering. Hair stuff is maintenance and not something I really enjoy. The thing I miss the most is just having the time to browse shops. Don't even need to buy stuff but just look around without managing kids. momtoM&D 04-27-2010, 07:59 PM Rarely. I consider Starbucks pampering at this point, and it's been weeks since I've done that. Really, since I quit working there about a year and a half ago, I've maybe had it 10-15 times? Other pampering....um, I last got my hair cut last July. My SIL paid for me to get a pedi last month, mostly because she wanted to get Melody one. The last one I got before that was almost two years ago. I've never had a massage or facial. CrystalD 04-27-2010, 09:02 PM I get my hair done every 8 weeks. If I need to buy some new clothes then DH will watch Kayden. surmick 04-27-2010, 09:25 PM I get a facial and brows done once a month. Don't even need to buy stuff but just look around without managing kids. It is funny you say that, one time I ran to Target to get a couple of things and left Amelia here with Chad. I was there almost 2 hours and only spent 18 bucks...it was not the buying, it was the looking that was fun. TaivensMama 04-27-2010, 10:01 PM does getting a chance to take a shower qualify? Lorah 04-28-2010, 09:11 AM So I was talking to my mom about this yesterday, and we both realized that we are really unpampered women....well, she is WAY MORE so than me now being all her kids and grown.... But neither of us have ever had a massage, facial, spa day, etc. She have never had a mani or pedi. I haven't had a mani or medi in over 12 years. lol I'm not even sure I know what I'd want to do to pamper myself as it's so very foreign to me. lornabrown 04-28-2010, 10:19 AM It's super important that mommies take care of ourselves since we spend all our time taking care of others. It doesn't have to be a paid service such as the spa day but it's important to find a way to relax and regenerate. For me, I made it clear to my dh from the beginning that I am high maintenance. If he ever bitches, I remind him of his his stepsister who does nada with her hair, makeup, clothes etc. and it's not a pretty sight. I know some women are beautiful au natural but I need lots of help. Shanta 04-28-2010, 12:14 PM I need to do more for me.. Debbie 04-28-2010, 02:09 PM I am finally getting some quality me time in. Dylan started pre-school 3 days a week and with my work schedule alternating everyother week I end up with one day a week that he's in school and I am a free woman. LOVING IT. I go to the Gym, go see a movie alone, which is actually wonderful! Today I am sitting around wasting time on the computer after having been to the gym this morning, and in a bit I will go shopping. Christyn95 04-28-2010, 03:39 PM I guess when I can go out shopping by myself, like to the mall or to the outlets w/o child in tow, I consider that pampering. :giggle DH and I also have 6 month memberships at Massage Envy, so we each get massages approx 1x a month (I just gone one on Sunday!) :) My SIL and I go out now and then and get mani/pedi's as well, for a girls day of pampering. :) Also, now that I'm unemployed, and it's getting warmer, I've been pampering myself with more mani/pedi's. Hey, I gotta look nice for interviews! :giggle I'm not consistent w/getting my hair cut, so I don't consider that a day of pampering, but my friend (who I've known since she was 3, and I was 4) does my hair, so it's nice to get some time to chit-chat. Ava's Mommy 05-24-2010, 11:09 AM I almost never pamper myself. And when i do it's by buying myself a new pair of work pants or buying a new eye shadow from Walmart. lol. I guess I always feel guilty spending money on myself, even if it is for necessity. However, my husband decided I deserved to be pampered and for mothers day he bought my mother and I a "couples package" at a spa in Windsor. 60 min massage, a European relaxation bath all topped off with chocolate and tea (I think we might bring some champagne). So my mom and I will get some bonding time and the ability to relax and be pampered without the guilt. Oh, and my dad is buying us lunch for after the spa. Who could ask for more?! brookiesmom 05-24-2010, 12:01 PM I almost never pamper myself. And when i do it's by buying myself a new pair of work pants or buying a new eye shadow from Walmart. lol. That sounds so nice! And how fun for you and your mom. Me and my mom and sisters need to do that! Ava's Mommy 05-24-2010, 12:05 PM That sounds so nice! And how fun for you and your mom. Me and my mom and sisters need to do that! I'll let you know how this place is. I think it's a little on the expensive side though...I'm not sure. My husband isn't really one to shop around so he probable just booked the first place he saw. I'm the frugal shopper in the family. brookiesmom 05-24-2010, 12:57 PM Yeah let me know! becky 05-31-2010, 05:38 PM I haven't been able to do any pampering in a long time. I put time aside in June (as a birthday gift to myself) to get my first facial, waxing and hair cut/colored. Had to spread it out to one thing a week but I think it adds to the pampering :giggle If I can manage to sneak away with just Kayla, I want to get a pedicure when we are in LA as a special treat for my girl moving on to middle school. Just being able to get out alone (without the little ones) will be pampering for the both of us ;) |
