I took the kids for well-checks and vaxes yesterday, and just wanted to rave about the Kaiser Injection Clinic. They were so nice and professional! The main guy was very thorough, showed me the bottles of exactly what the kids were getting, confirmed with me that was what they should be getting, and called the kids dr to confirm that it was ok for Melody to get the vaxes she was getting because I had marked on there that she had once had a fever of over 102 after getting vaxed. One of the nurses in there put an episode of SpongeBob on his iPhone and handed it to Dorian to watch while he was getting poked, and he didn't even notice the shot! The ones Melody got stung, so she cried, but they were really quick and gentle with her and gave them lots of stickers. :D
The one thing that really impressed me is that I had heard quite some time ago that giving Tylenol can affect the effectiveness of the vaxes, and one of the nurses there said that Kaiser had changed their recommendation and that they no longer advise that you give Tylenol - just Motrin if they get a fever or are really sore. I was glad they were up to date with that!
