What good books have you read lately that you would recommend?

Thanks! :)

What kind of books do you like?? I've read a couple mystery books lately that I've really liked. One is a local author - hope I'm getting the names right. Michelle Richmond - A Year in the Fog (about a little girl who gets kidnapped at Ocean Beach in SF). I've read another book by the same author but can't remember the title, really liked it though.

Another great author to check out is Elizabeth Bloom - Mortician's Daughter and See Isabelle Run

Right now I'm reading a book by Anne Lammot. I've heard her non-fiction is way better than fiction.

I get all my books at the library. We try to go once a week so I read a lot.

Sookie #10 but I'm taking my time. Not sure it's cause there's not too much happening yet KWIM. I'm actually considering re-reading #9 and then starting. When I read them so fast I forget what happened. I'm planning on doing the same before the show starts, but I don't know where to begin.

Also re-reading Eclipse again. So my nightstand is kind of full of half read books. lol

What genre do you like to read? I'm reading the latest in the Spellman series by Lisa Lutz and I've really liked all of those books.

I like the Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood) by Charlaine Harris. She has 3 other series and out of those, I like the Harper Connelly series the best.

I like anything by Maeve Binchy or Rosamund Pilcher. My favorite author of all time is John Irving and my favorite book by him is A Prayer For Owen Meany. But all of his books are quirky/funny.

Patricia Cornwall's Kay Scarpetta series is pretty good but I kind of lost interest about 6 books ago. Although I did pick up one of the latest books and read it a couple of months ago and liked it.

David Baldacci writes a really good government conspiracy theory/spy series about a central character called Oliver Stone. However, it makes me paranoid :giggle

I just read another mystery series by Harlan Coben and the central character is Myron Bolitar. I really liked his sidekick, Win.

I love the Plum series by Janet Evanovich... they are all funny and I love the characters. Book #16 is coming out next month.

The latest book is seriously lacking action but Eric makes up for it :giggle

I don't really know what I like. I have never been a big reader. A book really has to be interesting to keep me reading it. Since I started the Sookie Stackhouse Series I have been reading about a book or more a week. I'm on book 8 and am looking for something else that would keep my interest. I would love something similar to the series. Nothing too scary b/c I read late at night and spook easily - especially kidnapping/graphic murder stuff.

I was looking at the other series by the same author. I have also seen "The girl with the dragon tattoo" series around everywhere. Has anyone read those?

Thanks everyone! :)

Like Megan said, the other series by the Sookie author are good too :) I also have read the Anita Blake and Meridith Gentry series by Laurel Hamilton which are also vampire/supernatural series but they are a bit steamier than the Sookie books.

Thanks for the Cinderella Pact recc! The library didn't have that one, but I got The Sleeping Beauty Proposal and loved it! An easy read, and a bit predictable, but sooo funny and sweet! :)

I just read the Alchemist based on a friends recommendation. It was very inspiring. I just started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I just read Brida which is also by Paulo Coehlo and I liked it. Pretty quick read.

I picked up Heresy at the library on a whim and it is OK so far and am waiting on a copy of The Help from my SIL. I've heard really great things about that book and can't wait to read it.
