There have been some complaints recently about the advertisements popping up in inappropriate threads and forums so I would like to remind people there are specific FAQ's and guidelines regarding these types of posts:

http://www.sonomacountymom.com/forum/faq.php?faq=advert#faq_biznamesinusername

Now while we wholeheartedly support our members who are trying to earn a living in this difficult economy, the reason we have these guidelines is because the primary purpose of SCM is relationship between moms aka "Where moms come to play". Secondly, SCM is not free for us to run, there are costs involved and the ads you see on the left of your screen are from paying advertisers who help keep the site going for all of us so we can't very well ask them to pay for a service while others come log on and merely to take advantage of some free advertising and not contribute to the community here.

Anyways, I personally have supported several of the mommas on here in their professional endeavors and will continue to do so! Just keep in mind there is a specific place for those types of posts and they above is the why behind it :) Thanks and if there are any questions or concerns, let me/us know!

Reminder is much appreciated. I apologize if I have made mention of our "little business" outside the proper forum.

"Once you have maintained an Active Senior Membership, you may create a post in our Home Businesses and Advertisements forum about your business. Any form of advertising (even casually mentioning your business on the forums) is restricted to Active Senior Members. If a member requests information on a particular type of business and you fit that category, it is acceptable to include a link to your HBA thread. DO NOT include a link to your website or business email address, or your post will be pruned without notice and a warning will be given."

I know a recent post specifically asked for information and we want to support our members businesses, but especially since there are members with similar businesses please feel free to respond to such posts with a link to your HBA thread and let the person contact you if they are interested. Sending PM's soliciting members is also no bueno. Let me know if there are any questions!
