With all my son has been through, he just was not successful in public or private school. One day I was at my wits end researching ADD and ADHD. Thinking that he may very well be one or the other. Yet I had my doubts.
An add to the right of the article I was reading caught my eye. I looked into it more. It was a book titled: Dreamers, Discoverer, and Dynamos how to help the child who is bright, bored, and having problems in school. I researched it by reading a couple of articles about it. It talks about The Edison Trait. Which references Thomas Edison. It broke my son's personality down to a tee.
I checked it out at the RP Library. It was such an eye opener to me. There are so many approaches we have tried because of this book, and we have had so much success with my son. He was never horrible to me, but in school he had already been labeled.
He was bullied, and frustrated. The Edison Trait is based on the concept of divergent thinking. It explained so much of why my son does things the way he does. It kind of gave me a view into the way he thinks. We tried to impliment what we had learned into the school system, and they really did not make an effort. So he thrived at home, and acted out at school. We pulled him out of public school last November. He has been thriving in the homeschool environment, much like Thomas Edison did.
So I advise you to read this book. I had to request that it be sent to the RP Library from another county. Now I have my own copy. I got it for a little over $10.
I recommend it even if your child is not an Edison Trait child!
